I sat a total of 11 hours in the saddle Monday and saw a doe in the morning and a buck right at dark. Looked descent but not the one I’m after. Yesterday was an awesome day. Saw 4 different bucks for the day. Two spikes an 8 or 10 at 52 yards. Not huge but probably would’ve shot him had he choose to take the right trail.
On my way back to my spot in the evening at 315 had an encounter with a stud 8. I drive my sxs to about 800 yards from where I hunt then walk the rest. I have to cross an old steel bridge that is always hog signed out by the mud/swamp. I always stop before crossing the bridge to make sure there’s no snakes on it and just as I started to pull away the buck stepped out of the palmettos. Wider than his ears with good tines on both sides.
No idea where he lives but I’ll be sitting in the swamp strand at the break line from cypress to hardwood for the rest on the week hoping he makes a return trip through.
Oh and this guy decided to visit with me for a while
