Nothing better than a November sunrise from the tree

I’m in a pine stand. Walked a while and just eventually sat up over the one bit of fresh sign I could locate.
A rub and a couple fresh scrapes. Hope something works through. 692B9D57-AF6A-40AA-A78B-461CB38A4715.jpeg

Man, he came in just like I thought. I made a bad shot at 30, way back... ham?
Arrow penetrated 19” broke. See no blood on ground around the shot. Pulled out. See pics.

Had a nice encounter tonight right before dark in our 75 degree weather!

Had 3 does come out and 2 of them fed around my tree for the last hour. I'm thinking here we are in the middle of the rut and no bucks to be found??

Well he came down the mountain about 10 minutes before shooting light ended. I could never see the rack but he was clearly cruising. He hit the trail where the first doe fed off about 50 yards from me and turned and went that way. I had been hoping the doe at 20 yards from me would bring him in! I gave a couple bleats and a grunt but he was on his way after that first doe!

Back at it again today. In the saddle by 5:10, something walked my path 10 minutes later, but too dark to see. 20+ degrees warmer than last weekend. Hope that doesn't effect them rutting. Same general area I shot a doe with a crossbow 2 weeks ago.

Daylight finally coming through the clouds this morning on some Louisiana public land after a 2 hour shower or rain. Opening morning on a piece of public I’ve hunted since I was a kid.

South facing slope along the water and more bedding to my SE. Wind out of the south. Too warm, but sitting late into the morning. No shooter bucks yet. Hoping for one cruising along sniffing for does.
