LIVE from the saddle 2023

I’m in a huge oak and dad text me let me know three does headed my way. They came right to my tree 5 yards in front. I wait til l they were a little past and they spotted me before I even drew. Smart jokers

Didn’t blow but walked away too quick for a shot without spooking. Stopped at 24 yards. But I want closer shots
 
I was barely peaking around the tree. I didn’t even move at all and these deer picked me off. They didn’t blow or bound off but they walked out of there quickly. Wind was highly in my favor so I’m not sure what has them picking me off. I’m 22 ft to the bottom of my platform. I don’t wear gloves or face mask. I may start and see if I get different results. Something has to change… I really don’t want to result to one of those bow brush gaurds what’s his name with the fleece saddles use to make but I’m boarderline thinking about it.
 
Pegged again! One doe went wide of me and just out of dads range. Second snuck in but I wasn’t moving at all and stared at me for 2 minutes. Went wide of me and then the wind shifted and she bolted. Forget you and your timber pimping I’m warm. I just got in some natural gear wind proof pants and jacket and a fleece and it is sweet! I also like the camo pattern even if the deer don’t lol. Well priced and the first hunting pants and jacket I’ve bought new. I found my other stuff on the side of the interstate lol it was a nice find when I was a broke college kid and it’s still in good shape too.

This one today came in at 3 o clock so I was hanging off the side of the tree before I noticed her. These deer are also coming to 5-8 yards so I think they have the advantage being so close. None of them bounded off but they were looking right at me.

Usually when they're that close, you're out of their periphery, because you're practically directly above them...

Check your pull up rope... Is it dangling off of the back of your saddle and fluttering in the wind? :tearsofjoy:

You would think that, but these deer are looking up lol good on rappel rope and pull up rope
 
I definitely think the one this morning sky lined me a little but I played dumb limb pretty well. Not much cover in this big oak so my goal is trying to stay behind the tree.
