Modification to my climbing sticks

So I removed the middle step, moved the versa button to that hole and moved the top step and stand off down ti the versa button hole. Now I'll just cut 8" off the top and they are done. So with 4 short sticks you have the weight of 3 original ones.. like eliminating a whole stick... maybe more. Im going to add one 20" aider to the bottom stick and I should be good to go. Thanks for the help.

Sounds good. i am able to get away with three 24" sticks and carry one 22" moveable aider and get to about 16-17' pretty easy. The only trick with that i found is getting the aider on when coming down as you have to thread it between your boots as you are standing on the bottom of each stick. For the guys that like to get 20'+ you would need either another stick or a double step aider.

I can and do get to 20 foot with 3 modified sticks and one 24 inch aider easily. 2 foot from ground to bottom of aider, 2 foot from aider to bottom step, 2 foot between steps = 6 foot off ground x 3 = 18 foot and then 2 foot to step into platform = 20. I can easily get 21-22 if I force larger steps into aider - if I want to go higher then that I one stick my top stick

Im only 5'6" so a 20" step is about it.. lol

Ok I cut them down. Without the straps 4 mini's are 10lbs. Hopefully I can try them out this week and see how high I can get. 18' is more than enough and I should be able to make that. For those of you wondering.... the tube Is 1" and the wall thickness is 1/8". I countersunk my bolts on my versa buttons.... don't do it. Drill the extra hole in the back of each stick for the versa button bolt head to nest into. That helps them lock together. Mine are a little loose.

I was curious how the sticks would nest together when you dont have the bolt head there on the button. I have LW's , but i just drilled the hole in the back of each stick- they lock together even tighter then stock because i drilled a smaller hole.

My sticks are 24", with 22" between steps. With my 22" aider i can get 44" with each stick. I never setup to try and step up onto the platform as it doesnt seem safe since you would have so much slack in the tether, so when i set my platform even with my top sticks I'm about right at 16.5'

I might make new versa buttons and leave the bolt head out so they will lock together.. not liking the fact that they don't.
