Mountain Bike for Access?

Hey there, what are your guys' thoughts on these? Ascend Moher Fat Bike | Cabela's (cabelas.com)
Meh. I think the fat bike is overrated. I've been hitting my local gamelands hard with my 2.4 in tire mtb and it's perfect. Good mix of traction and speed. Fat bikes are slow and heavy. Never heard of that brand and on a personal note wouldn't give Cabela's a cent of my money

I know I do not like Cabelas anymore either but was wondering because it looks like it may be a QuietKat "economy" brand or something. I have a Felt 29N regular mountain bike and love it but not sure how it would do in snow.

I'm putting these on come November. I had studded tires on my measly 700cc road bike and it was insane how well that went through the snow and ice. Those on a 29nr are on another level. https://www.westernbikeworks.com/product/45nrth-wrathchild-trail-29-x-26-studded-tire

My bikes has 4 inch tires and I don't have any trouble with it feeling heavy or slow. But it's a Bakcou ebike with a 1000 watt Ultra Mid-drive motor. I'm to old and need help peddling with my bad back and hips.

Well you said it an 1000 watt motor isnt comparable to a normal leg powered bike. If your bike is an ebike fat tire is definitely the way to go

Mines 4” tires and not an e bike and it’s not much tougher than a standard tire bike lol and I’m not in the greatest of physical shape

I beg to differ. I have both (neither are e-bikes). I have a rigid fatty and a long travel enduro style 29er with a 2.4 maxxis front/2.3 rear. I ride the fatty almost exclusively. It's so much fun, it tractors over everything. Really not any slower either on anything except the real rough stuff. Very confidence inspiring. What people don't realize about fatbikes is how well they sustain momentum with that big tire 'an object in motion tends to remain in motion'. More than makes up for the weight difference. I have done 80 mile trail bikepacking trips on my fatbike.

I prefer fat tires over standard. They will go over alot of stuff on the trail with no problem. I do like a lower psi of around 8-10.

Yup, I run 5 psi in the winter and 8-12 in the summer. Anything over that is too bouncy. I also run tubeless with sealant and haven't had a flat since 2015 on my fatbike.

Man I'm so pumped for fall already. This walk would have taken me 2 hrs all day everyday with stress on the feet from walking. This is game lands and the red shows all the hills I hit too. I get to sleep in longer come fall at lastScreenshot_20220421-185840_Bicycle Ride Tracker.jpgScreenshot_20220421-185830_Bicycle Ride Tracker.jpg

I use a MTN bike, have for a couple years. I've hauled 3 doe, 2 buck, a bear and all my trail cameras in and out of the mtn with it. I personally prefer a fat tire. They will roll over everything. I have it setup specifically for hunting and scouting with a rear rack, trailer, accessory bags, a click stand, small medical kit, extra straps, and a bow holder. The best bow holder mounts have been the All Rite Pack Rack Plus, I've tried quite a few and they are hands down my favorite. I also use a 3D camo blind material to conceal it while I'm hunting and keep it stored on the rear rack in a Tethrd Predator pack. Only because I had it laying around, turns out it's pretty useful and works perfect for that. I did buy all of the gear before the pandemic and unfortunately prices of bikes have gone way up. The trailer is a Rambo and the price on that now is almost 3 times what I paid. I would suggest looking for used stuff but even that is pricey too.

Nice Buck!

So I saw in a forum post on another website someone say that riding a bike on PA game lands was illegal if you weren't hunting. Ive obviously read the regulations and thought I was good. But as I read them more im getting myself confused.
Obviously it's legal while engaged in hunting. But say I'm out and just want to check cameras, or go out scouting.
These are the MAY NOT regs:Screenshot_20220423-005248_Chrome.jpg
Open to foot travel only: I'm good there as none of the lands I hunt say anywhere open to foot travel only.
None of them say they are designated routes for bicycles, but they also don't have the yellow signs that say not open to bicycles and horses either.
I'm assuming I'm good because of the except part of "roads normally open to public travel", which would be the main access road.
No idea why this is confusing me so much

Roads open to foot travel only should be marked with a sign stating that. And personally I've never seen such roads.

Looking for recommendations on mounts for bow on front handlebar. It’s mainly for my longbow so as long as it attaches in two places and has a V of some sort it should work well since the bow is so light.

I've gone through several so far and my favorite and current are All Rite Products Pack Rack Plus Model PRP1. I've been using them since 2020 and they are still holding tight and offer tons of adjustability.

If you'd rather the bow wasn't cross ways up front to catch brush you could build a scabbard like this. It's zip tied to the frame. I carry my recurve in it. The tie is just a piece of insulated copper wire, 12 ga. It works great.20230104_151837.jpg
