Mountain Bike for Access?

Oh for the bike, I stash it in bushes if I know there’s little chance of someone coming across it, but a bike lock would be in store if that’s not an easy option

What did you get??
I went the cheaper route for now until I can afford better but I went with the mongoose fat tire gonna put it all together later on and give it a test!

Almost bought a Giant Talon. Ended up with a marlin 6. Good hard tail can get you a ton of places. The questions I have are how far from your stand do you park your bike? Within eye sight? Do you cover it up with a camo blanket or something? Lock it to anything? Probably gonna start using my mountain bike next season and may start scouting with it this season to see how it goes.

It depends on where I’m hunting for how far I’ll park it. I don’t get to use it everywhere on public here, but some places, I’ll stash it off a trail 100 yards or less from where I hunt, other times I may stash it off the trail and walk another mile or so “off trail” to hunt.

I usually stash mine in the bushes, but if it’s a place with more pressure, I’ll lock it to a tree with a Kryptonite U-lock. I guess someone could cut down the tree, but if they needed it that bad… have at it.

Mine is white. I plan on stealth stripping it this summer just so it doesn’t stick out so much.

I've researched everyday the last 3 months what ebike I would get for next year. Thought I was settled on what I wanted, then biktrix drops this. Literally twice the power of the bafang ultra which was the most powerful on the market. Could drag a deer out with this no problem even without a cart or trailer.

Those are beasts. Last November I saw 3 fellows one e bikes just cruising the national forest access roads, I’m not hating on them but I think at some point the forest service and game commission is going to have to draw a line where an ebike with 100mile range becomes a motorized vehicle.

If you have a nice fat tire- is it better to convert or buy a new ebike?

Here is my bike. It works GREAT for what I do. It can cover a lot of ground in short order!

I need to get a fatty setup at some point. I have a regular old 26" mountain bike, I use it for running cameras and scouting a lot, but I never use it to hunt. It would shorten a lot of my longer walks but I've just never set up a bow rack to use it for hunting. No e-bikes allowed on most of the places I hunt, and no complaints, it gets enough pressure as is.

@JoyRyd, @7mmremmag what are your fat tire bike models and specs? Where did you get them?

On-One Fatty I built in 2014. It's set up as a playful, jumpy fat bike and I have beaten the crap out of it and it has never let me down. I ride at Jakes Rocks a lot (I'm assuming you know where that is). I have ridden the enduro trails there, used it as a gravel grinder, use it for hunting every year, and have used it bikepacking (I've done the snowmobile trails and back from Warren to Marienville as an overnight trip). It's been the best bike I have ever owned.

I ordered the frame direct from on-one in England and built it up with parts ordered online and from my local bike shop, unfortunately they no longer make that bike. I wish they did.

Check out Growler, they're a relatively local fat bike manufacturer to you in NY. Loud Performance in Jamestown is a dealer
