New Gear for 2023, Go!

Interesting that so many care about the appearance of an aluminum cast platform. I once owned a LW assassin platform that had white scaling. Didn’t really care about it, it held me up just fine. “But I paid so much” -> please…..

By the email it sounds like it’s more common than just the one. Even though this is not the place for this argument, it does seem to be a cheap way out in my opinion.
*my opinion doesn’t mean anything

Anything even a simple clear coat would probably suffice… what does the automotive industry use? An anodic type of finish?

Again, no idea. I have no dog in this fight, just sharing an observation from a previous purchase in the hopes that it will be helpful somewhere.

I do hav an EDP platform which does not have this issue.

It happens in the process, there are always blemished platforms. They just do not usually make it into a box. So for a customer to pay for one is unusual. It was a mistake, admittedly.

So it's a good thing to try and push .66 wide blades through animals? :tearsofjoy:

Seems like he's claiming the aluminum is awful hard too....

I guess they didn’t solve the problem with keeping a head sharp. I could be wrong but it sure looked like that head had a wobble at the beginning. Well, at least it’s black so deer can’t see it.
Yeah. It look wobbly to me too at the beginning. While l think metal is not a fair test for any tip, l understand it a logical test for durability in the long run. But the reusability is bad...

I see his highest scoring fixed blade broadhead this year is an interchangeable vented razor blade design (Bloodflow 1.25" = 91.71)

Whereas several heavy single bevel COC broadheads only score around 83. (Tuffhead 2 200G, Kanaka Black Momba 250, Razor 200grain, Iron Will Wide Singe Bevel)

:D

The Bloodflow is 200 grains, which should help. The 125 grain QAD Exodus beat a bunch of on 2 blade 1 piece heads.

Highest score this year is a 125 grain max mechanical broadhead

:D

93.01 = SEVR 1.75 (New for 2023)

Even a 125 with thicker blades. I’m holding out for the Iron Will mech he said he wouldn’t ever make.

He uses a different scoring system for mechanicals. It's easy to make fun but who else is putting out a comprehensive test on most of the market. Maybe you all don't like the scores but he does a really good job of showing how each broadhead performes in certain situations.

The recent rounds of Ashby Foundation testing found Sevr 1.5" mechanicals outperformed lots of high end COC (including single bevel) broadheads as well.

I don’t think anyone is making fun of John Lusk. I was making fun of that lone wolf broad head though. I haven’t seen a price on it yet bet I expect it will be amusing.

All kidding aside....Ashby Fndtn actually tested a mech and released results showing it in a positive light?

Ashby tests were heavily biased and mostly BS. Repeat his tests yourself. See what you find. His soft tissue tests were absolutely bogus.
