New Gear for 2023, Go!

Someone may have already posted these and I missed it, but these are an interesting concept. Not crazy about the clicking noise, but it’s a very interesting design.

"Here are some details to hold you over! With its lightweight design weighing in at just 5 lbs,

Just 5lbs, they lost me right there. I'd really like to see some true innovation in regards to the platforms being offered, lighter weight and an intergraded system for attaching lightweight sticks, and a minimal shoulder straps/carrying system designed along with the platform. Seems all the innovation lately is moving back towards stands in regard to the sizes, increased weights, comfort. I'll keep using my 3lb Predator until a company changes my mind.

Buying all this new stuff on here.....you guys make me feel like I'm the only married person in here! Heck I may or may not have to ask permission to get my balls out a her purse... May e I'm just jealous!! Worrying about ounces and pounds and space, Im worried I may have to start sleeping in the tree soon if I don't stay off this site!

U guys have so much to look forward too on those long freezing late season all day sits.....aluminium sucks the heat from ur souls
I guess I gotta take ur word for it....

So ur saying if u had front half of it foot on the platform and ur heel hanging in space u were able to detect a temp difference with ur feet?
Believe it man!!! Back in the day we would
Put carpets in stands or rubber mats before there were boot covers or toe warmers which I highly recommend btw. That’s why I don’t hold on to my bow riser either until the last minute….. the cold aluminum literally does feel like it zaps any warmth left in your extremities. I’ve endured both cold wet and rainy days and freezing days on stand in the past by literally moving
My toes up off of aluminum or steel stand platforms for awhile . You’ve been in Florida too long brother! In reality, your body works to keep your core warm so when you’re in freezing temps for several hours the blood vessels I. Your extremities restrict to keep
Most of your blood flow to your core. It knows what it can sacrifice so to speak. These little things described above can make it bearable enough sometimes to stay another 1/2 or or more especially during the rut when you never know when big boy will show up.

Most all of this thread is based on speculation and conjecture, not personal dollars. There's a few product announcements mixed in as jet fuel.

There was quite a bit of innovation for a few years there on the platform front; that has stagnated over the last couple of years. Kind of reaching the point of diminishing returns in regards to good, positive innovation in the design of platforms and sticks. Platforms are all very similar now: cast or machined platform, center post or beam, strap attachment method (button of some kind), and bracket that attaches to the tree. Maybe an angled lip or edge here and there; weights all between 2.5-5 pounds and dimensions all between 10”-18”, varies depending on manufacturer and model selected. Companies can come up with all kind of cute names to give their platforms and all the “tech” that is in them, but when it boils down to it, they are all pretty much the same. Same basic principle for sticks.

I'll be ordering the 2200 bag tomorrow! Woohoo! Looks like a really nice and streamlined design.

Started doing weighted backpack training with my K4 5500. So far, just one sandbag in it.....so total pack weight is a bit over 25 lbs. Carries really nice! Got two more sandbags I can add which will take weight to a bit over 40 lbs and 55 lbs. Plan to bump to 40 early July....then maybe 55 in August. Progressive resistance and all that. Bought some inexpensive workout sandbags on amazon and some play sand at a local big box hardware store for this.

Sandbags, if you are interested: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B091BVL8WM?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details Just using the three smaller ones for now. Work great on the K4 load shelf.

I use a 50# bag of powered lime. I wrapped it in duct tape and it was $8.95. Those sand bags look fancy though.

As someone who needs to be spend exactly $0 more on hunting things, I'm kindly asking you, pleeeease don't post any more updates on this thing. Please

Crib is only $59. Not exactly $0, but won't break the bank.

Just need to turn the pockets inside out for the frame and accessories, :tearsofjoy:

I put a tube sand or two in an old seabag, and wrapped it in duct tape to take up the slack. Built-in pack straps and a handle. If I were to do it again, I'd dig a decrepit internal frame pack out of storage or Goodwill and use that instead of the seabag.

You can get a 50# bag of play sand at Lowes or other pretty cheap and just put the unopened bag in a pack.

Hardly any of us who have been around for a minute actually buy all this stuff. Most of us just shoot it down based on observations and experience with other stuff and then watch enkriss say he’s not going to buy it, buy it anyway, then break it and return or sell on the classifieds days later.

*** break it and TRY to return

Well I messed up and bought a new bow the other day so... Now time to accesorize. I reserve the right to return to my whisker biscuit and ez- v, or throw out this plan all together and just go with that as the primary plan, but with a SE Alaska goat hunt pencilled in for 2024, I want to start practicing shooting longer ranges than 40 yards and keep telling myself that I "need" pins. Or at least that's the going excuse for buying more things.
