with the discount I get through our shop at work I can build them super cheap out of steel. I should have my aluminum one done tomorrow...If everybody that can weld, makes their own, it will not be good for the platform market!! I can make a whole pile of em for the price of a predator and I really like it
I had that thought but instead of 1 1/4 post, use a piece of C channel. 2 holes in each post, one for a pin and one for a bolt to pivot on. Pull pin lay flat to pack but wouldn't have to worry about losing or dropping the post.I was thinking on this one if some one wanted to make one that was more compact you might be able to weld 1 1/4” sleeves in the platform for the 1” post to slide into with a removable pin or bolt of some sort to keep it in place, it was probably add some noise and fiddle factor but it might be worth someone trying worst case scenario it sucks and you just weld the post in solid anyhow.

I've been building platforms for presets, all treated lumber, poly glue, ratchet strapped on to the tree. Solid and cheap. Takes a table saw and a compound miter saw. Plywood platform is treated 1/2 inch. I figure they should last about 10 years hanging all 365 days each year.

I'll start a thread tonight.Anything in the forums or videos on how you make these? Looks comfy and solid.
Sorry I hadn't got to try it til I seen this post. I just went outside and put it on the night light pole and tried it for about 5 minutes. As of now yes I like it more than the steel one. It's also considerable lighter. I'm gonna make a separate post for it in the DIY section as to not distract from this thread more.Well, was the aluminum better than steel?
Sure do. They're "hooked". I'll get you a close up tonigh. Good to see you around @kyler1945@Nutterbuster I'm curious about something - do the points on the sides of the platform allow you to push yourself into the back of the tree?
Question for you painting bows, are you guys taking the bow apart to paint it? Picked up a used Hoyt carbon, love the bow hate it in blackYeah, it came out slick. I like it a lot. I have a bow to do, and I"ll probably do my treesuit platform now too!
