Hope team 4 scores this weekend. I am going to try an all day hunt on both days. Winds look good and temps are great. Lets see how long I can last in my Kestrel !!

Well guys I got my number 1 buck today! But bad news is I shot him from the ground. I still have 2 buck tags, so I'm going to keep at it.

Sorry guys, I just passed a sure 13 points. Had a young 8 at full draw inside 5 yds but let him walk. Nice spread but no tine length or mass. I wouldn't ordinarily shoot him but I almost did for contest sake. Thats part of my fear of the unwritten pressure of these things even when they're only for fun.

No worries man, I have been doing the same thing. Last year was my first time in this contest and I was putting so much pressure on my self to shoot a deer from saddle. I ended up missing 5 deer completely before I finally connected on the 6th. I had to step back and make myself remember this is just all for fun! Lol

Well my 2 full day sits didn't go as planned. Didn't get out till 12:30 on Saturday. Stayed till I couldn't see my crosshairs. Didn't see a thing. I guess work got the best of me, what was left decided to sleep in. Sunday was the same, slept in and got out at 12:30. Spooked 2 bucks on way to my stand. Got up in my stand and didn't like the way it was set up. Changed everything and finally got set. Looked up and there was a buck checking out the Rinks doe p. It was a hard quartering away shot between 2 trees. Not a problem for my Excalibur Grizzly. Hit the last rib, went through liver, and took out the heart. He only went 40 yards and crashed. I thought he was way bigger but will still taste good!

Guys, my week up north was a bust. The weather was super challenging. Solid hard rain for the first three days, then a snowstorm with really high winds. I was out in it every possible hour, but I couldn't make anything work. As she so often does, Mother Nature handed me my ass...

I'll be back out with my bow later this week...

I can relate, been camping in my usual rut area since the first of Nov. Do this every year and can't remember a season where I've had this kind of continous bad weather. Gonna have to cut it short tomorrow as we've been blessed almost 16" of snow in the last couple days. I need to get the camper out while I still can.

Don't take anything for the purpose of this contest - that would be a huge mistake.

Ha. I was eyeing up the 1.5 yr old 7 point and doe in my yard this evening. They're under our apple trees every night and are basically family pets. I was thinking that's 17 points standing there and my kids would still have their dogs ;).
 
Well I almost had us 5 more points. I shot a doe monday, start blood trailing right at dark and lost blood shortly. I searched for a couple hours and did find blood again, but lost it just as fast. Then it started raining and didn't stop til later the next day. I never could find her. I hate losing deer! I went again tonight and past a doe and saw 2 spikes, one was a piebald buck that I have been watching the last 2 years. Hopefully he makes it a couple more years. He is a beautiful deer!

I got to say I am jealous of you Yankees and all your multiple deer tags. Up here in the Great White North, (for the most part) you can only get a single tag. Now, don't make that seem like I am looking to trade and come South - no way.

I am still hunting for the next few weeks, but I am limited to doing so on party hunts with dudes who have tags to fill. (Yes @Ontariofarmer , I do have an additional tag out your way, I just can't use it around here where I know where to find deer).
