OOAL BOB

Eh, solves a problem no one ever had? Kinda disappointed after the hype.

As a person who doesn't buy any of the premanufactured hunt gear and sits the sideline it seems that is the MO
Hype the hell out of a piece of gear is is pretty much exactly like other gear that is already available...coke, diet coke, coke zero, cherry, vanilla, it's all just soda that's bad for u...a climbing stick is just a stick no matter how long/short or how u configure the steps....imo

Eh, solves a problem no one ever had? My one sticks have always stuck where I put them. Kinda disappointed after the hype.

I had a problem last year with my 1-stick platform not being tight enough to the tree so it would slide down a bit and make a creaking noise when I moved my feet. Fixed it a different way though…

I really thought it was going to be a crossover between a platform and hang on of some kind. Which if he added just a bigger bottom section like the ridge runner XL or something you would have a small seat idk guess I was thinking it was going to be best of both worlds.

I like the idea, given the perceived demand.

It planted a question in my head though. Couldn't you just turn any camming platform with a post upside down to climb with, and accomplish the same thing? The top standoff acts as the bottom step for climbing. When you reach height, turn platform back over and cam.

I tried like crazy to DIY this and could never crack the code. I tried a few different platforms and couldn’t get them positioned tight enough to cam onto the tree after climbing.

It also got large and awkward so at the end of the day I ran out of time and threw in the towel.

Someone with better DIY’ing capabilities might be able to pull it off but I was limited to Frankenstein build using existing parts vs someone with a shop that can get creative.

Definitely worth a shot

Any reviews on this?
I seen it at the show and got to mess around with it a bit. Didn't stand on it but it works well and pulls tight like a caming platform would. Well made like all of ooal products. Just another option if your looking for a one stick

They havent even made a production model yet. Probably hopefully be a bit before people get them in their hands. I mean literally the first prototype was done like last week for the GAOS ….lol

It’s funny, about 2 weeks before this BOB got unveiled, I had sent a message to DanO. I had almost the exact same idea and I was asking him if he had any connections in manufacturing that could come up with this. Never heard back from him. I doubt they threw this together in 2 weeks but if they did… it’s all wrong! It was supposed to be a predator sized platform on top so that I could turn around and pee! Good thing I saw that video on how to pee from a UP. Now I don’t need a new stick. lol
