OOAL BOB

Is that your preferred method of climbing?

For the most part. I use a 15” sticks and 3 step aider with 16” spacing.

The main thing with this method that I found that works best is I run my tether to the right side of my stick and Staggs likes to capture the stick with his tether. I found that to be a lot of added work pushing yourself off the tree. You also lose height that way and put a lot of wear on your rope. I also only use the bottom step of my stick climbing. You see Staggs climbs to the top to try and get the tether as high as he can then has to reach way back and down. More wasted effort.

I will throw my whole rappel rope out and climb that. I do as Staggs with the dynaglide through the end of my rappel rope to pull my bow up. I then wrap the rope up at height and either tie it to my gear hanger or put it in my pack.

What atick is carl using in that video? That looked to be the simplest stick and setup ive seen thus far

They sell the roll pouch. It sucks…

That stick was a prototype and never released to the public. He now uses a modified Tethrd ONE stick.

Wonder why it was never released? Seems really simple in function and for production... therd has some cool stuff but dont like that its made overseas (sticks)

Also don’t be confused by the designation ONE stick. It’s not referring to it being built for one sticking but that is one pound, or just over. I tried the one stick to one stick and it kinda sucked because it so close to the tree. I even sent it to ooal to have a cam cleat saddle mounted to it. Hard to beat the ewo one stick.

I have been researching this for a while and from what i understand the distance from the tree with the stand out is really important for one sticking ? I want to get the ewo ultimate one stick but its pricey and i will still have to get a saddle and all the fixins to use it

It deserves its own thread.
