Overwatch Orion

Big day...I got my Orion saddle. First off I just want to say Jamie's (@JCLINE84) customer service is second to none. He will take calls, texts, messages from this forum, etc. and talk through exactly what you want. Very great to deal with. The quality of this saddle is very high and built to last. We were texting today and he said if I ever have any issues at all just send it back to him and he'll fix any issue that may arise (which I have a feeling I won't need to send it back with any issues). Alright, now to how this baby feels in the tree...I was able to play with it some today after I got it in the mail. I am coming from using a Latitude Method and mostly lean. I use a Predator XL platform. Once I got roped in, I leaned back in the saddle and instantly knew this saddle was a keeper. It was already a lot more comfortable than the Method and I had not opened the pleat at all. The pleat is super easy to open as little at a time as you want. All of the adjustments I made were in the leaning position and I did not need to stand up on the platform to adjust anything. You can just pop the two buckles with your thumb and move out as much webbing as you want. The bridge he makes is great too. He keeps the ends loose on the saddle's bridge loops. This makes moving the pressure from the top of the saddle or the bottom of the saddle a breeze. You can move this pressure while leaning and do not need to get weight off of the saddle by standing like you do when the bridge is tight to the loops with a prusik. All I had to do was use my hands to pull on the the bridge rope a bit and pop my hip up a little. Repeated on the opposite side and then both loops were in a new position just like that. Like I said I lean most of the time but will probably do a little more sitting in this saddle as it is super comfortable that way too. The pleat adjusts out plenty enough to get a great feeling in the seated position. Even once you start to lean again with the pleat all the way out you can adjust the bridge loops to where it is comfortable in that position. I just have to say this saddle blows my Latitude Method out of the water. It is bomb proof and comfortable. He made it in a Kryptek pattern for me.

man that thing looks sweet!! Mine should be on its way in a week or so. Mines in black kryptek and as usual he knocked it out the park.

Still looking to get my first saddle. Have heard great things Jamie’s gear. Which style saddle, (1 or 2 panel) in the experiences you had, is more comfortable for a man with no rump?

Honestly, no one will be able to answer that question for you. I went with a 2 panel first and liked the single panel better. Everyone has their own preference and you really need to try both styles to see what fits you best. However, I've always said out of all the saddles I've bought and tried I could have been happy with any of them so far but like many others I was on a quest for ultimate comfort. I can tell you this if you buy an Orion and you decide to sell it on here you won't have a problem selling it.

I would say if you don't want to buy multiple saddles to try out then the Orion is a good place to start. I can say moving from the Method 2 panel (which is supposed to be one of the most comfortable 2 panels) and to the Orion, the Orion is more comfortable. For leaning it supports your back just as much but has more all around comfort and support all the way through the butt. I am going to do more playing around with it today. Anything you want me to test out for you or focus on?

I don’t really know the right questions to ask at this point? Does a two panel put less pressure on tail tom prevent nimbleness or pressure points? And with the added bridge configuration does in affect moving to get the right position for taking the shot?

Your gonna have to try various styles to find out. A lot has to do w/ your preferred style of hunting. I'm a leaner/stander on a platform. I run a low tether and short bridge. Sitter tend to run high tether and longer bridges. Sitters have all their weight on the pressure points. Spreading that weight reduces the pressure. Look for a saddle meet up in your area and try some on.

Make sure you bring that with to the PA meet up Goody!
@Hall17 I have seen you watching this thread for a while now :) can’t believe you’ve had the self control to not order one! I couldn’t help myself..

I’ll be happy to lend it to you to give a whirl once I get it in. If I can make it to the meetup I’ll bring it as well.

Finally got to get out and give this new set up a try. I think I’m going to really like it. Walked into a spot I’ve wanted to scout for awhile. My phone said it was .6 miles. With the rope belt tight and the bridge over my shoulders the saddle didn’t sag at all and I never had to stop and readjust. It was great to be able to get to the tree and just reach back unclip my stick and start climbing. After my sit I was able to get my stick reclipped while hanging so when I hit the ground all I had to do was roll up my ropes and I was walking to the truck.

Figured I’d give my thought on the comfort of the Orion in a separate post. This will be my saddle for the upcoming season. Only sat for 45 minutes but I love how this saddle feels. The ability to adjust how far the pleat would open allowed me to be able to get the bottom suspension just below my butt and the top suspension just above the top of my hip bone. Having them in these positions and being able to tighten up the fabric of the saddle allowed me to be able to equally distribute my weight over all of the saddle. Still have to put in more time with it and not putting the transformer in the classifieds but I can say with confidence that I’m going to love this saddle.

After using a rope belt on the latitude saddles and then getting a transformer with rope belt. I just don't think I could use a buckle belt again. It's so nice not having to adjust over and over. Also, holds no matter how much weight you put on it.

You just answered the one questions I had about this saddle. Does the rope belt slip? I have 2 models of saddles. One I can't adjust easily and the other always loosens up. The other question is do I need to order it with or without a standard belt buckle.? Goody's and Papa's saddle both look great.

I've yet to have it slip. It holds very solid and no saddle sag what so ever. Nice for the walk in and even hanging sticks. I'd get ahold of Jamie and talk with him on it. Will do basically whatever idea you have! I just went with the rope belt alone with no buckle.
