I didn't explain enough. I meant I have seen people apologize all over for Tethryd but criticize others for the same type of things. I only know about Gen 1 platforms what I have read here. Apparently some of those cracked.

Not only did they crack, Tethrd as a company basically discredited the obviously design flaw, said there’s nothing wrong but IF and only if it breaks we will send another one. Then they rolled out a Gen 2 platform with beefed up corners where the original ones were breaking. But it’s only a positioning aid so everything is fine.

If someone had one maybe some ground level testing with some hefty people would be in order. It might reveal the cracks. Maybe the warranty period is up now? I don't know.

Who knows man. I think most people can see what I think about them as a company so I won’t continue to pour it on. With this style of hunting becoming more more popular I just want to see people be safe and have all the information. I’m done now but hopefully they will get everyone taken care of.

Checked mine and it looks good to me. Like previously mentioned I received it earlier this month. I had to wait for the “new” batch to ship out that is why my order came in two shipments. Anyways hope this adds to the conversation.
My hole is definitely off center and way low compared to yours1E6A6CF2-2C49-40EA-BE93-03D00E0B7BF2.jpeg

I read a posting either here or a similar site by a guy that IIRC quoted a metallurgical explanation explaining how differently tubular aluminum reacts and is affected by continuous essentially unending stresses like bending and flexing VS mild steel and the abbreviated version is aluminum doesn't handle stress forces placed on a specific area or spot that anywhere near as well as mild steel as aluminum again IIARC the article when exposed to constant flexing doesn't flex or spring back if you will without the original shape the aluminum was formed in as many times before weakening like mild steel does. I wonder if the same rules apply to cast aluminum?
I guess thats why they don't make truck leaf springs out of aluminum?
They do however make aircrafts from aluminum. I'm interested to hear your explanation about that.

Not a chance.
Im pretty new to this game. The issue I have is I have a bad back. Weight is becoming a huge issue to allow me to go deeper in. I have ways of getting the deer out but to go in quiet and light is a necessity. I refuse to let the injury stop me, but I was never one of those guys shedding ounces. That has changed. One of the draws to the predator platform is the light weight. I am currently trying to get my entire pack down to about 12-15 lbs for comfort. I looked at the .5 and it looks very nice, but the cost is high and its heavier for sure. Im not a rich man, but I will spend top dollar to shed some weight on items. That weight savings equals less pain.

It does seem that predator platforms sell in the classified here really quick.

Not out of cast aluminum

Edit: aluminum casting is used in some aircraft components. Aircraft castings use extra procedures like high pressure casting and heat treatment.
I don’t know Tethrd process, but they are putting stress on cast materials in ways that other industries don’t.

The "not catastrophic" failure seems like the same response everyone had about the issues with the GEN 1. Mention a "recall" and you're accused of putting some good 'ol boys out of business.
Looks and seems to me that they haven't changed they're business model or philosophy. On top of the "made in USA" tag being misleading or outright false.
Keep buying their products and not hold them accountable and this will never change.
I guess you didn't read my comment. I have never bought any Tethered equipment.

Oh no....just checked and mine has the off center bolt location as well. I'll feel like I'm stepping on a land mine now. I ordered mine in early September 2020 and received it end of September.

I wonder how many predator platforms are out there that have preformed flawlessly? I don’t own one just curious. There are very few products or companies out there that make any product that you can’t find a hundred posts with issues and/or complaints about the cs. So just keep that in mind about anything. For everyone that swears off and talks crap about a company there is someone that won’t use anything else. Not defending tethrd on this just a reminder to consumers. Don’t listen to fan boys, but also don’t listen to to the anti guys. Not sure which group is worse . Those are usually the two groups most vocal and passionate.

To the actual issue, Hopefully tetherd takes care of the problem. I think they have to for reputations sake. And hopefully they learn from it and improve. They are still a fairly young small company right? Or are they owned by a big conglomerate like hawk, muddy, and 95 percent of other companies.

All true, but when there are design flaws or consistent manufacturing issues that should be checked (for instance, if those bolts are supposed to be centered in that aluminum cross member, then NONE should leave the factory without that being checked....it is a simple machine....how many parts are there to check?).....then people start to have a point. It moves from "there are always some bad apples" to "this is statistically predictable" and perhaps too common for something like this.

Do you think Metolius sends out carabiners that have never been looked at by a human? If the gate hinge was off center, would they catch that and not send it out? Spot checking one from every batch only works for things like wrist watch bands. I would be scandalized if Metolius didn't have one person that looked over carabiners by hand while packaging.

Tethrd is always behind in shipping. 2 to 3 weeks for an in stock item is slow. Is that because the are doing extensive checks or are they behind in general so checks are less common (or neither)?

Yes. I would be willing to bet that Metolius does not have someone check every biner before it is shipped. Maybe I am wrong but I doubt it.
