Predator Cracked

They had a chance, and a chance .....with the Gen 1
Failed miserably by my assessment, I really hope they approach this one differently...
I had a Gen 1 and it had no defects but I read that they had problems with them breaking . So I contacted them they took it back and sent me a Gen 2 . Now this was awhile ago and I just tried it on a tree a few times. I bought a Mission I just like the size better. I have no complaints with the different products I bought from Tethrd. Just saying.

The folks at Tethered got in touch with me today and confirmed the bolt hole is not centered and caused the crack. They state they have since corrected the machine so the holes are now in the correct location. They are overnighting a new platform. Can't ask for much more than that.

I think that one COULD AND SHOULD ask for more. Once they identified this machining problem, they have a responsibility and LIABILITY to notify owners of the affected platforms. I think a lawyer might call that “negligence”. OOAL notified everyone they could when they discovered a strap issue, and made it right immediately- that’s a company with good character. Tethrd, on the other hand ... wait and see if anyone gets hurt.

This is yet another reason why I offloaded every bit of Tethrd crap I owned. I want nothing to do with that unscrupulous company.

Semper Fi,
Mike

I am hoping for the same results, I haven’t heard back yet but I can only assume with the holidays and the fact you emailed them sooner my turn is coming.

It’s dumb I know but fun and harmless nonetheless.
I'll politely disargee. The "in before the lock" type comments often seem to inflame the conversation as if everyone is trying to get their final word in before the lock occurs.

bakin thanks for bringing this topic up as it’s important for everyone to know of a possible equipment defect as soon as possible.

Did Tethrd give any information on what “batches” or date ranges in manufacturing that have this off centered hole that is causing the failure?

I just looked at my platform with a stamp date of 021020 and it too has the off centered hole, but no cracking yet but I’ll surely be monitoring it daily.

Same exact number and hole location on mine...I've never had an issue with so far but I will for sure be watching it.

No mention of dates or batch numbers.
As for the comments about life risks.... I'm never un-(tethered) whether it's the first step or the top perch. I can't imagine any one standing on anything in a tree without a lifeline (unless your still young and bullet proof). I'm too old to be falling out of a tree.
Good luck and God bless...

I’m always worried more about sheredding whatever body parts come into contact with the sharp metal pieces on my way down.

Thats sucks and maybe buying it used voids any warranty. Get on the .5 bandwagon.
Not out of cast aluminum

Edit: aluminum casting is used in some aircraft components. Aircraft castings use extra procedures like high pressure casting and heat treatment.
I don’t know Tethrd process, but they are putting stress on cast materials in ways that other industries don’t.

Thanks
You beat me to the punch on that reply.

I hate this site..Now you made me check my platform and i have one with the offset hole. It is not cracked yet,i had it one season.and clock in at a tad over 200#.
I will be watching that for sure though.
The ignorance is bliss thing is out the window now.
