Team 11 thread

Wind sucks but I found some persimmons and oaks dropping together next to a tilled up hayfield so we’ll see how it goes. Tons of hog sign over here

Did a "Dress Rehearsal" last night in the dark. Took everything with me I would need. For the first hunt. Ended up ditching the bow hanger idea I was toying with. Spent 5 mins trying to get the strap right. But even with messing with that I was ready to hunt in 24 minuets from un packing to climbing up. 3 moves on the one stick. Which two good moves is all I will mostly need for most places I will hunt. I went 3 just for worst case scenario. Can easily shave off the 4 minutes going back to my slightly heavier bow hanger. So about 20mins to get set up. That was not rushing and taking my time. What I liked better about the one sticking was 14mins I was down and packed up. Way faster than when I fumble around with sticks. After that I pulled out the strop and started to run the Masassias over it. Hopefully tommorow I am posting my kill picture. Lol.
Yeah, don't get hung up on the "how fast" you get up a tree hype because that's not what's important. Getting up safely and QUIETLY should always be the main focus. If an extra 5 or 10 minutes climbing ruins a hunt then there are things wrong with the way you plan your hunt. It sounds like you got it figured out.
I recently timed myself getting out of the tree after a hunt was over - from fully set up in the tree to backpack on and walking away -12 minutes flat

I'm running the 125 overkills and have a noticeable whistle, was just curious if you had that, but since the 200s are solid I doubt that's much of an issue for you. I'm right at 550gr total weight this year, gonna probably shoot for a 650 grain build for next year

I'm shooting 125gr Samurai Overkills for two seasons now. Took a buck at 18yds and doe at 25yds last year with a 640gr TAW zipping along at 215fps and a doe this year at 27yds with a 585gr TAW whistling away at 227fps. None of them flinched until they felt the vanes tickling their lungs, lol.

Had a doe come in about 15 minutes after finally getting up in a tree. She stayed about 40 yards out and didn’t come into the persimmons. Think she caught some ground scent and skirted around it with how calm it was out there. Got a decent spot to hit early season next year at least.

Yep. The RF refered to this as the foamer. I see why now. I hoped in a tree along the little field next to the barn. She walked right by my truck. Down the field following my scent. She apparently didn't know that it means trouble. I stayed patient this time. Waited for the good shot. Then I sent one through both lungs to fill the freezer. Screenshot_20211001-101051~2.png

O.M.G..... that's some impressive foaming, I can't imagine she went far

Doe tag punched. She's on the ground..
MattMan81, congrats on the slick head!!! Not sure what bh you shot her with but that is impressive to say the least. The only deer I’ve shot and had close to that kind of blood was with a rage.

200gr grizzle stick Massaias. I ran them down the strop last night and got them razor shop like the RF showed with the paper. I have never seen anything like that either. I shot a few bucks through both lungs before with my crossbow. But never got that kinda foaming action. Both were with those NAP spit fires. Went in the top of the right one, and out the bottom of the left. So it gashed the pretty good. Screenshot_20211001-110112.png

She went about 50yrds. Saw her tip over. I was shooting back about 7oclock on the tree. It was on an angle and after I shot I fell back and was swinging on the down side of the tree for a moment. Lol.

Now I'm really excited to see what my 125s will do. Glad you swinging was a temporary problem.

Hoping to get out this evening for my first hang. Been on a capital murder jury duty all week. Finally finished with that and desperately need some woods time.

Back at it. Other side of the barn now. Lol. Walked around and the only place I saw fresh buck tracks. I did bump something out when I was getting ready. So who knows. Maybe it will come back this evening. I got in the stupid oak tree with lots of branches. I should have just sat on the ground cause all the trees are like it. But wanted to be able to see more. The truck was only like 100yrds away. So I ditched the one stick and went and got my hawks. Had to fight my way up. But with the breeze and woods ducks making a racket in the woods. Didn't think anyone would mind. Acorns are just falling all over. No wonder there is tons of sign.

Dude, you need to get your priorities right. Isn't hunting season a valid reason to be excused??
Good luck tonight!!

I finally got to hit the woods today. I hunted the afternoon/evening. Where I was set up there is a ton of buck sign, with some droppings that were still steamin. I only saw 3 does and they were on the next ridge over.

Well. Never saw another deer. I heard 2 blowing as I was packing out. Not sure if they saw me? Or at someone else hunting the other properties. They sounded far away?
The owner of the farm came down around 6. Then her daughter did about 7. I would have sat further away from the house if I knew they were gonna be down. All well. Deer down with a good shot, short drag, and beautiful day. Can't ask for more.
