Went out Saturday evening, had a doe feed right under my saddle but I was hoping a buck would come in. This morning a 2.5 year old was coming back to bedding but he wasn't very big and because the shot was probably stretching around 30 in the woods, I let him pass. A doe was following him seconds later in the same direction. About 45 to an hour later the wind shifted a bit and a lead doe and two yearling fawns came under my tree but I was hoping that buck or another buck would come in. I did a few soft grunts and was hoping it would pull him in from his bed as it was cooler this am and come on, the rut should be kicking in in another week or two. This afternoon I took my neighbor's 14 year old out for the annual youth firearms hunt and we only saw does at last light and past legal shooting. Was good to spend some more time in the woods but I'm itching to shoot something soon.

A lot of working for me, but soon I’m headed to Indiana where I hope to get into some nice bucks. I’ve passed up a few does and smaller guys recently but soon I won’t be able to resist the urge for fresh steaks.

Heading out for opener tomorrow. Bucks only, so I honestly don't feel great. The place I wanted to go to requires a printed map, and when I went to print it off I was out of black ink. Thanks for the archaic rules, COE.

So I'm hunting a runner-up location. I have seen bucks there before during early season. Here's hoping. Gonna be a sleepless night

I buy one or two new cartridges print seven pages then I don’t use the printer for three months... go to print something I need bad, cartridges dry go buy more new cartridges. There’s got to be a better way. Good luck!

That stinks but good luck. Our rifle opener is Saturday morning. I’ll be working. Wasn’t planning on hunting anyway. I was going to take my son to a youth hunt. It’s an awesome wma that I have to apply all in for three years to get to hunt but youth can rifle hunt one weekend a year. The fact that’s it’s the opener keeps the crowd down. I didn’t get to hunt last weekend due to a family trip. This guy showed up this evening at last light. We just can’t seem to get together. May sit behind work tomorrow evening could definitely drop a doe but the logistics of getting whatever you shoot out pretty much ruins the spot E0F61838-8C24-4DB9-AB17-A21EA2A13D93.jpeg

Hey, at least you know where one is. Ingot no clue. The only buck i know of is 2 and a half hours up the road from where I am right now.

This place is a pita to get to, but I'm here and got an hour to wait on daylight. I almost slammed into a doe about a mile from where I parked, and I saw 3 more driving in. Didn't see eyes or hear blowing walking in, and I've got acorns dropping all around me.

I've killed here before. Maybe the mini will eat today. I got a brand new schwacker broadheqd nocked up that's whispering evil things in the dark.

@Nutterbuster good luck. You know those schwackers bounce off deer. Then again the HC is so deadly you have to do something to make it challenging.

Of course he shows up an hour later than yesterday and 45 minutes after I left. I can’t move any closer to his bed. He’s bedding on non huntable public when he’s here during daylight. That oak in the left rear of the photo is about 15 feet from the property line. Hunting another property tomorrow night with my son.

Hosed again. I did not hunt last weekend because it was the youth deer season. This weekend, I had to work today, tomorrow I have to replace the fuel pump in my van (with a 31 gallon tank). At least I have some time ff in early November for the rut.
