Anyone hunting today? I am going to try and get out this evening right off some doe bedding where it is torn up from them eating acorns. Hopefully no bear will blow out my day this time. Please let the rain hold off!

I got out the past 2 afternoons with my dad that’s in town for my sons bday. We had deer around us both nights but neither was able to get a shot unfortunately. I’m trying to get my first trad bow kill but I really wanted my dad to get his first out of PA deer. Almost happened last night but like a ghost the buck worked in and disappeared before crossing a shooting lane for him.
the WMA I’m hunting, Fort Polk WMA, has a lot of closed areas periodically through the season but I have some great areas that are opening up in a week so I’m feeling good about getting something on the ground with some decent head gear.

Hit a doe last night. Put the arrow exactly where I wanted however because of the sharp angle it wasn’t the right location. Tracked her for 200 yards backed out and looked again today up and down the creek where she headed with no luck. 1/4 away but at 5 yards. I aimed too far back instinctively but because of the angle should have buried it right behind her shoulder. I hit guts for sure. Not sure if I hit liver or not.

Finally got in a tree for a little while.

Slept in darn it!
Took a nice walk around the ridge behind some fields at home.
Saw 2 tails and 7 does...

Good luck gents the next few days. The wife, son and I are headed down to OBX for a few days to hit the Red's that are currently running in the surf. Hope to get back out in a tree middle of next week.

I’m a fan, I was a 2 panel guy up until I got my reaper. It’s the most comfortable single panel I’ve tried. Of course he came out with a new model shortly after I got mine.
