Team 3 Thread

Them damn does aren’t in a daze! They pick you off without even trying lol.

I got picked off Wednesday night, had a doe work her way to me not 15 minutes after I had settled in (bout 3:30) Came from weak side, went to draw the 10mm from my pack and realized the snap on the holster was buttoned. CRAP.

Was going to let her work past me for a nice 15yd shot with the bow. Nope, stops at dead 12 o clock position and blows out of there.

Yeah them old does have a sixth, seventh, and eighth sense lol.

Alarms are going off, the red lights are flashing, there's a giant voice screaming "big buck alert", and just like that, it's like the beginning of the season again. . . . . . .

I'm a teal killer extraordinaire. Give me a good teal shoot and I'll turn my nose to a mallard. Plus they are such tender morsels.

Maybe it's from being raised on shooting quail most of my pre teen years, but teal don't stand a chance around me. That hen in the group took a load of #5 steel pretty hard. just a smidgen tenderized.

I’m saving that one for later….lol. Shouldn’t have shot that one, but it happened fast.

Funny
When it happens fast is often MY favorite way to get a buck...
A bunch of years back in the latter part of the season I still hunted up on some deer 'yarding' together on this mountain side. One of them was a beautiful 8pt. I was within 60 yards and closer to these deer for over an hour.
The very next day I was sneaking along through some thick stuff near the creek running along the bottom of that same small mountain and jumped a dandy... I had to run ahead of me a little ways to get some high ground so I could hopefully get a shot at the buck. Well, it worked and I dropped him at about 180 yards away up on the other side of a brushy field that he crossed.
Turns out it was the same buck I watched (and let go) yesterday!
It was great because it was the way I wanted it to go down... (fast)

Got a big hog to kill here soon. Bastage about caught my ram 3500 to the face last night trying to cross the road while I was headed to feed a few bale to the cows. He got caught up in the fence and I almost got a 200 grain 10mm in him. (Dirt road surrounded by property owners that have all waged war on hogs, including me)

Been slow this year on my end all. I promise I'll be putting points up by the end! I hold off on my does until later in the season, and I'll be knocking a few of them down this season. If I can get my bucks to pop back up, I'll be set, but they're sporadic and nocturnal lately. Either way, the freezer queens will fall soon.
