Team 3 Thread

Well guys, sorry no luck. Saw 2 doe and a spike, about a dozen turkeys. Spike hung around for 20 minutes taunting me..can't shoot spikes here, otherwise he'd have been hanging by 8am....

Whoa whoa whoa, you do that get off that easy, let's get that story!

And congrats!

Well if it wasn't for a good neighbor I'd have never even gotten close to him

Had to go feed a few bale to my herd late last night, after dark. The neighbors ranch hand stopped me at the front gate and asked if I still had any buck tags which I replied yeah. He said there was an old buck that had been crossing the road from my place to his just west of this drainage. Not much for horn but big bodied. Mentioned that he's seen him cross the road near every morning going back to my side. In fact had seen him cross that night when he was coming back from town. This is in an area that I haven't even walked through in probably a decade. (Aside from fishing/duck hunting the pond)

Well the due south wind wasn't going to let me hunt any of the other property so I figured I'd give it a shot. Would have been wasting my morning anyway, at least this way I'd get to hunt.

Got there a little late and was settled in about at shooting light, saw a few does moving down the field edge, resisted killing one though I wanted to so badly. About 9:45 I heard the unmistakable sound of barbed wire getting caught by something and releasing with a twang/jingle. Sure enough here he comes from across tge road, walks 40 yards away from me so I went ahead and sent a 100 grain nosler partition through him. Quite a large bodied buck for this part of Oklahoma, field dresses 165 so live weight is near 200.

Dang, still what a buck, even better story! Congrats, tag punched, what's next fpr you? How long is rifle in? Any doe tags?

Ok, so I haven't been out since I killed that buck on the 12th. I decided to run over talk to the neighbor and see what was coming out in the field. Neighbor said he hasn't seen a buck in the fields since the second week of November. I figured I'd walk up and glass anyway. Well I laying in the prone glassing roughly 60 deer when this fella walks up to 20 yards from.

Now you all know darn well that would never had happened if I had a bow or a rifle in my hands...........

I'll be out this week for Thanksgiving- heading back home to CO, but I plan on jumping back in when I get back. Still a lot of time left in the season, and I need to get it done still. I need to help out and get some points on the board!

Today was opening day of rifle, still have 14 days left. I can kill I think 3 does with a rifle, no more bucks. Can kill a buck with a bow.

I've got 4 tags left, maybe another chance at a buck with the bow, who knows what'll happen. Bow season runs till Jan 15th. May hunt fairly hard for the next week, unless the ducks really make a showing. I love fat greenheads in the decoys.

Ok, W T H is with the posting of banger buck pics and nothing else............

You can't do this to junkies man. It's not right, . . . . . Just not right!

Congrats, now story please........

Had to let you guy know ASAP. Not much of a story. Been chasing him for a few weeks but first time I’ve laid eyes on him myself. I hadn’t been in tree for probably about 20-30 mins. Heard a deer walking, saw it, through up binos and immediately knew it was what I was there for. Got cam running and nailed him. Dropped in his tracks.

Here’s a couple trail cam pics

Well, today was a complete bust. Didn't even see a tail.... I did hear a fella shoot 13 time through the morning, and helped him drag his 90lbs deer that still slightly had spots on it ....... to each their own I guess. But I'll be back out wednesday and Thursday morning, hoping for better results then...

Kind of at a loss on what to do now. There's always a big push to kill a buck and now that I have, I lack to motivation to get out now. The ducks haven't really showed up yet (they haven't in the past 3-4 years it seems)

Obviously there's still some studs to be had this time of year and I know there are at least 3 shooter bucks to get after where I hunt. I could give my sister a crash course on the saddle and hand her my spare. Not sure I want her "graceful" self on a set of sticks

I hear yea, you got one on the ground. Breath a sigh of relief, mission accomplished. Maybe take a few days off, go do something that completely takes your mind off of hunting. Then go have fun, go out with a mindset of "scouting for next year", if you're truly done, meh so be it, let it go........ lol. C'mon now, I've never met you but we both know that's not gonna happen.
Either way, you got it done, just don't forget to enjoy it now!!!!
