Team 3 Thread

Finally got a doe in range. I’ve had multiple spikes and forks milling about my tree, finally got this yearling doe to come in. Rut should be kicking in soon here in TN.

Nice!

What part of KS are you hunting? I pulled a tag the last 3 yrs in a row with no points.

I don't know yet, haha! My daughter lives in Wichita, I scouted a lot of public pieces east of there in Unit 14 last December, so probably somewhere in there. Maybe Unit 12. Not married to any particular area yet.

Took the afternoon off on Friday and headed up to the camper. Temp was 72 when I left home at 12:45 and 48 when I arrived 2.5 hours later. Cameras were active on the way up. Had a doe at 15 yards with no doe tag for that county. Did an all day sit today over scrapes and didn’t see anything. Thought the cold temps all day today would have them on their feet.

I passed a dang good deer last night, and another about 7:30 this am. It’s starting to snow, north winds at 10mph, feels like 19. I cant ask for better weather. My group has seen at lest 8 shooters since Friday. We are just being patient since we have until Saturday. It can only get better I would think.

Had an interesting hunt last night. Saw a doe with a couple fawns, a couple bald eagles and a sow with 3 cubs. When the bears came in I was sure it was the biggest buck of my life. They were breaking branches and pushing dead trees over, then they popped out at about 60yds. I was sitting on the ground against a big beech tree watching them eat plants for a few minutes. They were slowly moving in my direction and I realized I was gonna have to run them off. I slowly stood up and yelled, "Why don't you go hibernate or something? Get out of here!" They all just stared at me. The mom was in that low to the ground squatting pose they say bears make when they're about to charge. I yelled again, "Go on, git!" The mom ran up the opposite ridge with all 3 cubs behind her, and I went the other way and kept going all the way back to the truck.

Pretty sure my season is cursed. Heading back to Chicago for work tomorrow, will be there till Thursday then I head to southern OH for rutcation. Hopefully my Ohio season goes much better than my Michigan season has been so far.

This weekend has been a big improvement over last weekend. Its still wet but I've seen deer from the tree on every sit since Friday morning. Only problem is they're just not what I'm looking for at this point.

Gonna have to head home sometime this week, my wife's grandmother passed yesterday, she was 101.

Very sorry for your loss, you have my condolences. But glad to hear you're seeing some deer!

Sorry for your families loss @boyne bowhunter 101 is a helluva run.

Camera showed 3 different bucks hit the scrape I sat over on Saturday before 8:30 this morning. Funny the difference a day can make even though temps were same and winds were the same both days. I need to work on my mental and confidence game I guess because I was doing projects around the house today instead of staying up there for one more night and getting in a morning hunt before heading home…

I think I figured out my problem…. As I was leaving the woods, I pissed in that scrape and then ran home to my wife. Clearly I am also rutting. Unfortunately, she was not in estrus when I got home.

Her grandfather passed 2 years ago at the age of 100. I tell my wife she's definitely gonna outlive me. Of course she's not one sticking up trees either. :tearsofjoy:

First snow last night. Didn't stick on the ground but I had an inch on the truck. Things were moving this morning. Had a doe, yearling, coyote and young 6 point all pass within 10yds (not at the same time obviously). It was a good morning in the woods.

The group finally got the skunk off of our back last night. I still haven’t seen the buck I’m after, and he hasn’t been on camera in 3 days. He did this last yr. And showed back up for 4 days straight from Nov 1-5. I’m hoping old habits are hard to break. It’s 23 this am with a 17mph north wind. Weather man says it feels like 10. I believe him.
