Yeah but it’ll be great hunting in 3-5 years though if they didn’t completely clear cut it!!You got to liking that spot. Happens every time. As soon as you get to liking some woods, here they come and cut it all to hail.
Shoot high?I had my first sit this morning, same as above raining white oak acorns. Had 3 does come through & I missed the biggest one at 17yds. My first live target with my new recurve. I’m spoiled you can twist up like a pretzel with a compound & still make the shot if you’re lined up. Not saw with traditional…….. I’ll try & get out this weekend & get something for the freezer.
Yup high & slightly left( way high) she was at my 2oclock & I had to rotate my left hip hard to get my bow arm over the bridge & top limb tip to clear a tree next to me. I got to full draw & anchored but in hindsight I should’ve let down I was torqued up real bad. Stack that with my bad ML shot on a 6x6 & it’s been a few rough weeks. I’ll get right, I just need to be pickier about shot selection with trad.Shoot high?
Good luck. Really hoping to hear a great story!Setup this morning in a tree I've nevenclimbed before in an "old reliable" spot. Ended up having a forkhorn walk directly under me and an hour later a doe and a fawn scared by something really noisy ran up to me then walked away, back to where they came from. Never did figure out what the commotion was.
Tonight I'm set up.in a similar situatioon the other direction out of camp. Real good deer sign feeding on wild cherries. I bumped a couple walking in that I think were a doe and fawn.
Happens! The other morning I waited about 15mins for the wind to start pulling down before made the last 150yds to my tree. Deer “shouldn’t “ have been where she was…….. but dang if she didn’t bail & blow in the dark for 5mins that felt like an hour.I got winded this morning. I was set up at an X shaped trail intersection with my wind just off one of the legs. Apparently it wasnt just off enough.
