Team 4

the whole rut ahead of us. I think I am about maxed out (for once, lol) unless I can get a better buck than the two I have gotten so far. We get one buck
Yes, one buck and one doe.

I've had a really slow season. Probably the slowest in the last 5 years. I'm going to try this weekend for at least a doe.

Yeah, I think you're pretty squared away unless you find a freak. Its unlikely that I'll kill anything better than an 8 point in AL in January but maybe. Ill definitely smack another doe from the saddle and get a pic this time. We need to figure out how to get some of these boys with nothin a deer or two and we can take this thing.

Well everyone,

I had a doe come in at 30 yards tonight broadside. Grabbed my muzzleloader, put it on her shoulder, and fired. The reaction was poor. She bounded off with her tail down. I didn't hear a crash.

My muzzleloader didn't seem like it fired all the way. There was less recoil than normal. I had hunted with it last weekend in some rainy weather(the barrel was covered with tape) and then I left it in the garage this week. In hindsight I should have put a new load in it.

Going out to track in a few hours but it isn't looking good at all.

Good luck, keep us posted.

Dang it, sorry to hear. Its not uncommon for a load to get buggered up. If there is ANY moisture I would always recommend a fresh load.

Proud of our team for jumping to 3rd! I might be able to add 5 points in January, but I think we did pretty well.
Yes, we are doing pretty well. I have nearly 2 months left of season (ends January 31st at dark) and hopefully some others do too. It is far from over. Maybe I can upgrade one of my bucks, I am sure going to try. Last season I didn't get anything on the books until the tail end of December and managed to kill a doe on the last hour of the last day of the season. For the folks who might be struggling right now, my advice is relax and enjoy the season and if you get one or two great, but otherwise just have fun.

Guys I have been overseas for a bit and unplugged from this. How in the name of Jesus did we get into 4th place! Damn! Great job boys - where are the pics!!!

Luck and pure stubbornness, lol. There should be some pics in this thread and the official entry thread. Get out there and have some fun and drop a few for us. There is still plenty of time left.

Great work boys. We all understand that nobody cares about the points or the contest standings, but way to keep at it.

Well guys just shot a buck. Broadside shot, a little back. He ran tail up about twenty yards, stopped, and fell over. When he fell he laid his head down, but he raised it back up. I can see him about 40 yards away bedded with his head up. I'm going to try and sneak out after dark and then come back in a few hours.

A few more deer from some of you boys that haven killed and were can take this thing. HaunSolo puts us solidly in third with that 8 pointer and I'll add a doe for sure at the end of January.

Just a little guy. The shot ended up entering about 4" back from his shoulder and exiting out the guts on his offside. I guess he was more quartering to than broadside.

Easy track job, he only went ~25 yards.
