You have a very familiar face lol! Approximately what part of NJ are you from?

Funny you should say that. I have one that looks a lot like that living right behind my house that I have been trying to kill for 3 years now. :tearsofjoy:

Do you live in Illinois? A buddy sent me that pic.

Okay, I admit it, I suck. I had the past week off from both jobs, I hunted long and hard, walked many miles, sat many hours, and nothing to show for it. Maybe I should have skipped the rut and faked an injury on social media.

I only have doe tags left until gun season, which starts next weekend so I spent the day scouting. I put in 6 miles of boots on the ground and found some slamming sign. Put out a camera to try to get a pic of the beast that is hurting all the trees in this swamp.

Shot a yearling (1.5 yo) doe Saturday at last light. Been passing doe all season, but sitting all day in 30 degrees x 30 mph winds made me bloodthirsty I guess.

20 yard shot, high double lung, blew thru opposite shoulder blade. Shot felt good and sounded good, she plowed out hauling arse, but arrow was covered in fat and muscle blood. Gave her 2 hours to be safe and took it up. Not a single drop of blood to be found but she only went 80 yards.

Not sure if I can enter these sorry pics? Didn't think to get one of the deer in the woods. It was late, we were exhausted, and had to break down the deer, and camp, to leave really early Sunday. In bed at 1 and up at 5. Been burning it both ends for 3 weeks and it's adding up.

I split it with my hunting buddy that helped pack her out, thus the 2 legs vs 4 in the fridge. I'll shoot one or two more yet, hopefully a buck this week before archery closes. Saw a lot of cruising bucks this week, just no shooter in range yet.

Good luck to yinz still out there grinding. This coming 7 or 8 days is my favorite part of the rut and season. Young bucks cruise in the rut buildup looking for that first ripe poontang. Around here the older bucks start cruising now because they've been around the block and know the lil guys are worn out already.

I apologize for not being much help. I can’t seem to see a deer anywhere this past week. Rifle season opened in Missouri and that messes all of the patterns up. I’m watching the edge of a wheat field tonight but it’s 70 degrees and a screwy wind.

Got in a sit for a doe Monday afternoon but got skunked.

The sun has set on early archery here. I had a slow season overall but saw some bigguns. Passed a couple lil guys. Just no shots at the big guys. Time to dust off the .270 next week.
