Tether Handles

i love the idea, the only problem i see is that you have to fully detach the rope to place and remove them right? it could cause issues with pulling your rope down for those who 1stick up and rappel down.
I primarily one stick and didnt have a problem. I dont take them off. Just leave them right in place. I use a lock knot behind my triglide that holds my rope up.

I will be making 2 of these, but what I didn't see what you did was what you did with the amsteel to keep it in place. Did you bury it somewhere? Inquiring copycats want to know.
I just put a stopper knot after it passed back through the fuel line. Next pair will have loops on bothsides.

You beat me to making something so I whipped this together real quick. Seems to work pretty good.

Maybe if you clipped your retrieval carabiner to not only the kong triangle but also the handle on that side a pull from the base of the tree would add even more slack to the tether making it easier to retrieve? I'd have to try it out to see how that would work.

I made something similar at first but with a small spliced loop in the end (gray amsteel). Didn’t even thing of just routing the loop through the tubular webbing.

I adjusted the second handle (orange reflect it from dutchware)
and made a continuous loop with a small 1” Whoopie in the end to tighten so I can adjust pull tabs for tree size

If you guys decide to make these I would highly recommend a loop on both ends instead of the stopper knot on one end. Version four I did that and it makes a world of difference

Basically I was one sticking and as I was moving my tether up with both feet on the bottom step my stick kicked out and my hand was trapped behind the tether against the tree as I fell. Really wasnt enough time to grab anything. A lot of factors with several errors on my part. I've found it difficult to move my tether up a tree quietly especially on pine trees with loud bark which led me to some unsafe practices which shall not be repeated.

Gotcha. Well hope you’re ok and didn’t get hurt too bad. I’ve never tried climbing a pine tree for hunting, let alone 1 sticking a pine.

Couldn't ya just make an endless loop of amsteel and attach them like ya would a prusik knot? Maybe the added real estate with wrapping the amsteel makes the tether rope more rigid to move it?

Another benifit to a rigid handle.

That’s nice, I’m gonna have to try this. The loops I made work well but it’s a back and forth motion as I push it up. That seems like a clean lift and done.

I can’t help but think with all the new high tech cordage small diameter rope we have that those one sticking shouldn’t just run twin tethers. Moving a tether up a rough barked tree is tough enough without the worries of entrapping ones fingers.

I don't have any more Amsteel on hand. I know... I'm a sinner ;) You think it would work with paracord?
I've been mulling over in my head using paracord and a small bit of rubber tubing like that but I can fix to my tether somehow. They don't really need to be weight bearing, just something to control the tether loop

The eye of my tether is just big enough to slip the rope through comfortably, I feel it allows less sliding on it when not weighted but makes it a pain to pull down if there is anything on the rope. So I'd like to be able to remove it or add handles whenever

I would definitely like a handle to incorporate into my system, but specifically on my dDRT rope to help my power stroke.
