Tethrd Gen 3 sticks……. Foot room discussion only.

It appears Tethrd has made improvements the the Gen 3 sticks and a lot of people are mostly satisfied with the product now. I have read the other long Gen 3 thread here to gather that feed back.

My question deals with foot room while climbing up and down the tree…… Do you guys using them feel like it’s enough? That is my only concern with the sticks currently as it’s pretty obvious the foot room is less than most sticks on the market.

Is the weight savings worth the lack of foot room trade off……?

I wear a size 12 and they work fine for me. You do have to turn your feet out but to me it’s not an issue. Prior to these I was predominantly an SRT guy and carried a EWO one stick as a backup to SRT. I haven’t rope climbed once since getting these.

I have size 13 boots and think they are fine. Feels similar to beast sticks on the tree. I think that rise/point on the step helps with feeling the step. Might seem like very little room but the angle out also needs to be taken into consideration.

I think the step design also makes them pretty strong. The longer the standoff is the more leverage on the bolt/standoff etc… probably why the weight rating on ewo ultralights are only 250lbs.

I currently have one of the gen 3 sticks and also wear a size 13 and have no issues. Climbing you do have to turn your feet out as stated above….i enjoy the stick.
before i was using the Hawk 20 inch and i think there is more room on the Tethrd then my hawks….

all and all im enjoying it. i run a 2 step aider and in 3 moves, i can get up the tree pretty high

I am coming from Beast Sticks and noticed a reduced area for foot room. Also, the design of the Tethrd step does not allow you to grab the top step when descending. I quickly adapted but there is a noticeable difference. Now, having both 4 Beast Sticks and 4 Tethrd Gen3 sicks, I take the Tethrd. The weight difference on long walks and climbing is worth the trade-off in foot space. I am also impressed with how well the Tethrd grabs the tree considering they are not sharp. The glow in the dark tabs are a nice, useful feature as well.

I have have had Shikars, beast sticks, Timber ninjas and am debating the Gen 3 sticks also. I’m a 14W. The Shikars were decent. The TN were not and I had to turn my feet out almost sideways. The beast sticks are my go to every time and I love them. I heard TN is coming out with new stand offs due to customer (me, hahaha) feedback. But the weight of the Gen 3 and your info saying they are close to the beast sticks makes me want to get them.

A little bit of a comparison I did with Gen1 ONE sticks and beasts.

Good pics. I did just order a set of the one sticks with the black Friday sale. As far as sticks, I’ve only been on a Shikar one sticking but can’t really imagine how foot room would be much of an issue. Shouldn’t be spending much time on the stick anyway. And if it’s a problem while setting up ROS or a platform, just tether in and hang!

I was just about to start a thread with this very question. I wear a 12 so good to hear that most of you guys are having no issues.

What aider are you running?

I just got my three pack of one sticks today and did a little test run in the yard. With a size 12 hunting boot, foot room was a non-issue. Would I want to stand on them all day, no. But it wasn’t even noticeable on the first two climbs leaning back into a linesman’s belt. For me, the weight savings is well worth it. And they seem to have no issue on a leaner

You really like those turds? Worst stick I have ever tried.

You've said.

Don't like the step flex, ok. Heavier than you anticipated, ok. Least amount of foot room, I think not.

The Tethrd One sticks are right in there for limited toe space. It's only fair to clear the air on your previous comments about the TN sticks.

Doesn’t prove any point. Different tree. Send me one I will try them on this tree.

Ball is in your court. I've nothing to prove. You had this TN stick and you have your singular qualitative measurement tree. Pictures?

In my previous response to your assertion that the TN sticks have "the least foot room", I merely stated the One sticks are amongst the sticks with short standoffs. You then didn't like the picnic table comparison, and now you don't like the tree comparison.

It'd be fair to have an objective comparison, especially when you put significantly derogatory info out.

TN and catalyst carbon pros both have less foot room than the ONE sticks. The only thing helping the TN sticks is the extra wide plastic step they went to try to mitigate some of the atrocious flex they had.

This thread is about the foot room of Tethrd ONE sticks not those turds you seem to love so much.
