Tethrd Phantom vs. Cruzr XC

I am pretty confident the Cruzr XC will be a solid saddle. The stitching looks good. Seems very well made. Wish it had Raptor or ISC buckles instead of some no name buckles.

I already changed out the leg buckles and I will be changing the waist buckle for peice of mind.
I'd love to see your finished product once complete, along with what it took (money, time, and skill) to get there. Sounds like the Cruzr XC is the most comfortable (non-JX3) saddle out there right now, but I'm unwilling to compromise complete safety for max comfort. If I can have both in one saddle, I'll do it in a heartbeat.

It’s as safe as any other saddle.
Check your equipment daily. Here is a picture of a phantom bridge on Facebook.

Popping out a comfort channel marble does nothing to compromise safety, though, right? Of course, it raises questions about how it's put together and all, but that saddle (as best I can tell) had no safety failure. Also, ya never know if that thing was manipulated by some competitor to cast doubt on the integrity of the saddle. Not saying that happened, but I don't know the details there, hence my preference for reliable independent testing.

I'm a big fan of AustriAlpin buckles. ADF had a bad run early on and AustriAlpin capitalized on it ...
I'm sure all of these issues with ADF buckles have been fixed. But still :grimacing:

I personally trust every saddle I have tried. I think the leg buckles are safer on the cruzr compared to the phantom or H2 hooks.

The saddle maker that has been in the business longest and makes the most robust but heaviest saddles is new tribes for sure

So if your worried about safety buy a flex. A comfortable saddle

A subjective opinion says the stitching is better on a cruzr or recon than an H2 or phantom. Both good saddles too. If your happy with a phantom because you think it is safer stick to it. It is a good product. I like the phantom, it is light and well made but I like the Cruzr better but it is heavier yet more comfortable.
Do you want comfort, perceived safety or minimalist weight.
I will take comfort first, I am not worried about saddle safety, and minimalist bulk and weight are somewhat important. Your priorities will be different.

I have been sitting in a cruzr for few hours turkey hunting. Pretty comfortable Especially on the hip bones. I have not adjusted a thing for personal comfort. I wonder if it matters at all where you set the tether or bridge loops.

In my opinion, hunting from a tree with the safest saddle out there is still a pretty sizable risk and I do understand your concern. There's nothing wrong with hunting from the ground. I'm sure everyone will be on the lookout for a Cruzr torture test at the very least.

I saw a couple posts on them onFacebook popping out. It does question all the claimed testing they did IMO

A phantom is marketed well. A saddle breaking is a a small worry. A short fall on a tether or an improperly closed carabiner or any operator error is a worry

The Cruzr looks like aero hunter quality which I think are likely the strongest saddles available yet I don’t even know if New Tribes has independent testing on their saddles.
If I were to wager a bet on saddle strength I would bet on the Cruzr or New Tribes product over an H2 or phantom. Independent testing or not. All four are good safe saddles.
But check your equipment regularly.
