Tethrd Skeletor Sticks

Just got my shipping notice email. Woohoo! I had ordered pretty late in December so wasn't expecting them for some time still, so this is a pleasant surprise. Probably be at least a week or so before I see them since they have to cross the border.

Can't wait to try them out.

Update: Good news is it's UPS and the sticks are supposed to arrive this Friday. Bad news is it's UPS....and they soak you for brokerage/customs fees when stuff comes across the border. Much prefer USPS, takes longer but the fees are about half of what the usurious UPS charges. Oh well.....at least I will have them in hand sooner than expected.

I received mine today, took them out of the box and took me 40 minutes and made up some 18" 1/8" Amsteel aiders and went out and tried them in the yard. Very, very nice stick. All said and done with aiders they are 8#s-14 ounces. I loved my Shikars but to me they did not stack well. These are 2 more pounds but stack great and I love the angled step!! Tethrd did good on these!!

Are they worth $266 dollars after tax and shipping? I mean , I love everything about how these sticks look, but for the $ I could get 8 lone wolf sticks on facebook. They do look awesome tho

Do you really want to carry 8 Lone Wolf Sticks? There's got to be a better option than that. Not saying these are the answer for you. Just that the question posed isn't going to generate the answer you seek.

Id only carry 4. And do a leave/preset with the others. But no, I wouldn't be looking at these if i was satisfied with the packabilty of the lone wolfs.

For all the guys mentioning aiders, why not just use a knaider? I mean put it on at bottom of tree and go, no moving anything or adding anything as you climb. I have tried them all, Amstel singles, doubles, straps everything and to me the knaider is the way to go.
Totally agree

4 Skeletors (8lbs) would be heavier than 3 Lone Wolf sticks (7.5lbs) and not get you much higher...

(18)+18+(18)+18+(18)+18+(18)+18= 144
(18)+30+(18)+30+(18)+30 = 144

I am the one who posted about the knaider and I do like it but with a hip replacement it's not so easy anymore. I paid $240 TMD and to me they were worth it but I have had them 8 hrs. Sorry but have had all the LW sticks and to me these are better. Funny thing is everyone busts on the Hawks but out of all the sticks I have tried, Shikars, lwcg, Novix, the old style LW, etc. etc. The 20" Hawks now that they worked out a few of the bucks as as good as any of them except for the weight. Just my opinion but for 99 bucks the Hawks really can't be beat. I am gonna mod my hawks to mimic the Skeletors except for the angled steps.

I won't get into Hawks vs all the other sticks. That's a lot of ground to cover.

What mods are you going to do to mimic these and what do you think that'll cost?

I received mine today and tinkered with them all afternoon on several different trees. I am very satisfied with my purchase. I wouldn’t mind if the steps were a little longer but other than that I really like them. They are rock solid in every tree I tried them on. I really like the dynalock tab also. Seems they upgraded the rope from the ONE sticks. The stacking pins are also improved and held in by a simple screw. When I am not one sticking I will be using these.

What changed your mind?

I am going to have my son in law machine me a bunch of the cleats and add them. I than will add the 1/8th inch amsteel ropes. I would say it will cost a few bucks a stick and I will than see if it's possible to add pins for the stacking method. I wish these new sticks came in at about 150 bucks but that's not the way prices are going anymore. Hamburger 6 bucks a pound-- unfreakin real!!

I have used lone wolf sticks, API, Eastern Woods Outdoors, Beast and now the Skeletors. These are by far the best sticks. They have it all, good sharp standoffs, roomy steps, great attachment method, a nice way to store the ropes and a great stacking system. All the others were missing one of these methods.

Is anyone having trouble getting their sticks apart? The StickLoc pins appear to be working too well. I’ve already cut my thumb and smashed my thumb while practicing with them on separate occasions. Maybe it’s user error, but I haven’t found a good way yet to get my sticks apart without clanking metal or pinching/cutting my fingers. Any advice would be appreciated. I’m almost to the point where I want to remove the pins altogether even though it will compromise the stacking method, and they do stack together nicely. Just having a hard time getting them back apart.

Grab the bottom standoff like this and push the other stick(s) down with your thumb.

They will get a little easier with time. Might not hurt to run a bore brush through the holes to knock the finish down a bit
