The No-Shame Thread

No shame thread: I think broadhead sharpness is somewhat irrelevant. Arrow placement is far more important. Shot a doe this year with a dull broadhead - it died within 20 yards. That’s what happens when the arrow goes through the heart. 80 ft-lbs KE will do that, even with less than “shaving sharp” blades.

I agree shot placement is key we need to be in the vitals for sure but I don’t agree with your broadhead theory on sharpness.

I haven't bought anything. Yet. I haven't seen anything I gotta have.. Momma really wants me to get another freezer. So it's kinda hunting related. But not.

Me so far

I caved. Bought some first light stuff. Vest and hood. Sent the solitude jacket to my folks for Christmas present ideas. Ordered my wife a nice quarter zip from them as well.

Ordered a sausage stuffer on Amazon since I almost killed myself stuffing 25 pounds of snack sticks with my LEM grinder.

OK...I agree that shot placement is important. However, we don't always make a perfect shot.....we cannot guarantee a perfect shot every time, and if you think you can, then I want some of what you've been schmokin' 'cause it's obviously really good sh*t! LOL

Having solid, shaving sharp broadheads will save your butt when the time comes, and it will, that you don't make a perfect shot. You hit bone. You take an off-angle shot that requires extra penetration to hit vitals. You want a full pass through to get the best blood trail from a high angle shot out of an elevated position. I'm with Ashby.....structural integrity of your arrow and broadhead is #1....then arrow flight, which directly affects shot placement.

I think if you have respect for your game (and dare I say it...if you don't you should sell all your hunting gear and take up golf), then you owe it to them to have the sharpest broadheads possible.

I had to pick up the ape canyon pioneer saddle for $133 with the discount. Felt stupid not to buy one for that low of a price. Also grabbed a pair of asio sherpa lined bibs for when the mercury drops

Well I’m traveling so that helped. But I did manage to get a Trophy Treestands Blaster ground seat for 20% off. I have managed not to hit up Amazon though and avoid a lot of expensive purchases. I am excited about the Blaster, I saw it on YouTube and looked interesting.

The new to me bow I picked up off the classified here got here today. I’m sure I’ll end up getting add on type stuff for it now, never imagined I’d own a bow this cool. Ordered the new platform. Think that will be catch and release but we’ll see.

Not black Friday related but I just stumbled on this thread and I have some confessions

1- I like to say I'm a bow hunter, but I've never killed with my bow
2- this site got me hooked on the saddle hunt, but I've never taken my saddle with me yet. Only in the back yard.
3- I work at a small business and I'm the only hunter, aside from a guy who wants to start but is clueless. But I know he's got a honey hole of private land to shoot off of, and could easily get better deer then I did this year, so I am almost tempted to give him bad advice as to not be outdone.
4- 9/10 times im hunting in camo sweatpants

Badlands Vario day pack, bino connect and hydration bladder. only around 140 bucks. not to bad right.

Im not ashamed to say I want an E-bike, bad. Not necessarily for hunting as it’s illegal on most public land near me, but rather just because they look fun as heck to ride.
They are fun to ride! Looking forward to reporting back with how this one does. It was a less expensive one that, assuming it functions at all, will pay for itself quickly.

Why would anyone even go to the woods knowing you were carrying a dull broadhead. I took a friend w/me to let him shoot a deer. He fell asleep in the blind & I picked up his arrow to check it out. When he woke up, I was finishing it up w/a diamond. His response was why. You at least owe it to the critters to carry the best and sharpest head you can. Anything less is just poor judgement...and that is just ludicrous. Next time you need anything done @ the physicians, just have em use your pocket knife, it's probably good enough..

Technically a dull broadhead just has burrs and folded over edges which would probably cut and destroy the insides more than something slicing through. like a serration kind of lol.

P.S. if you made it this far you probably realized I have no clue what I'm talking about.

Since we’re shame-free here, let me ask a really n00b question.

What does CRP stand for!?
