I figured I'd revive this thread a bit...
Took my son up to my property in NW PA for opening day of PA Archery...no deer spotted, probably because on the day before, some foresters went thru the plot, marking the back property line & right-of-way for the owner of the property behind me-he's planning to log his land this winter.
I did see a large boar blackbear in the evening from this spot-caught him on my cell cameras this past August. It was almost dark, & I was folding up my blind & getting packed up to go to my son's spot when he showed up-I heard him first, then saw him when he saw me. He was walking towards me & we saw each other at about 15 yds or so. He turned tail & went crashing thru the woods.
Anyway, here is where I sat for most of the day- I thought that some out there might like to see a Ghost Blind in action- the first photo is from approx 20 yds away:
and here it is from approx 10 yds away:

Those ghost blinds are incredible when set up well. I have the small one and about had a doe walk right over top of me one time. Until I moved a little and she busted me from probably 6’ away or so.
I have killed several deer from the ground. I wear my ASAT 3D leafy suit and it works amazingly well. I use a Millenium tree seat or I use a folding stool. The ASAT camo has been a game changer for me when ground hunting.

This loanwolf seat is ultralight.added à strap so it just flips down instantly off my fannypack ,still atached ,to sit on a wet mossy stump or the ground.and can be used as a kneepad in the tree

I'm also playing around with a small Torges tree seat that I can fit in the back of my 2TC backpack. I haven't had it out yet, but it will be an option to just take out and do a quick sit if I don't want to climb that particular sit. I made the seat a couple of years ago to fit inside my larger Catquiver compartment and I put an extra long rope on it so I can attach it to some very large diameter trees.
Out west the vast majority of hunting is done without carrying any gear for trees or blinds ...its done with just the boots and camo and covering ground.
In the last picture, you are technically hunting from a tree. lol

Anyone use those ultralight camping chair for ground hunting? Felt one today and it was crazy light and seemed comfortable. Put me in a good shooting position I thought.

I just picked up the big agnes stool. It’s stupid light. It is yellow but I figure a small piece of fleece and it’s covered and offers some insulation. Maybe a piece to lay on the ground to keep legs from digging in. And I’m going to stealth strip the legs. Should be sweet.
