"The official saddle hunting backpack thread"

Looks nice. Looks a lot like the pack I use. Mines just a mossy oak daypack I found one time in a discount sporting goods store. It’s the mossy oak break up country camo which is my favorite camo for some reason. But it works great with my WE steps and all the extras I need for climbing.

There is also plenty of room for doyles hoist on the waist belt.
Are you packing the ozonics in a compartment by itself or in the carry bag made for the unit and putting it in the big compartment?

I actually carry my ozonics in a cheap game winner binocular pouch I got from academy about 5 years ago. It is the perfect size and shape.

I carry that in the main pouch

Anyone have any experience with the Kuiu Icon 1850? Seems pretty versatile, not too big, and ability to pack put meat?

Nope pretty much same like the 1850 pro but thinner cordura material in the 300 as the pro are 500. Besides that icon has a single pocket sown the center and pro has two. I think the pro has cleaner sewing job as well on the internal of the bag. Icon is lighter too. If you can get the 1800 or the 1600 icon it'll be a sweet little pack for the super ultra light stuff. Can't go wrong with the 1850 size overall perfect for what we do.

I think I’m trying to decide between that and the sitka toolbox. Think sitka would be homerun if they made it expandable and added and meat shelf to carry out meat

how Do y’all think it would compare to the sitka toolbox? Only thing about a framepack (needing one to pack out meat) would be seems like it would be a big profile in the tree

Search for pop up in this thread and you'll find several responses to this
Thank you. Different people have different interpretations of what is "loud". That is why I was asking Jimmyfunk60.
I see from my search that you are fine with the noise. I hope I feel the same, I plan to buy a 38 and new mule pack which is compatible with the new PU frame. I am hoping in the future they add more packs compatible with the new frame.

That's why I said to search it. Some people hate the noise, some don't care at all, and of course some are in between. I always like things to be quiet if possible but I'm not in situations where my pack brushing against stuff is louder than I am walking. And after than it's just hanging in a tree. I don't think it's an issue and the functionality of the pack is worth the trade off anyway. IMO.

Any noise issues with the MR products?

It’s cordura so it’s not as quiet as fleece or a softer material. When I’m hunting anything I’d need in a quick manor to kill a deer is already out. As far as noise getting into the pack as long as you take your time it’s a non issue. The versatility of the pack greatly out weighs the little bit louder material. All goes back to being aware of your surroundings and moving slow. It’s the best pack I have found so far.

I'm running the Badlands Dash with my climbing sticks and platform lashed to the back similar to how people are attaching beast sticks to the MR Treehouse. The primary downside I've found with this pack was actually the primary seller when I originally bought it. The pack had a curve to it and a mesh material between me and the pack to allow for max airflow. I sweat like crazy walking in (insulated clothes attached to pack) so that curve/mesh setup was very helpful. Where this didn't help was in storing items in the pack, that curve to help allow for airflow hurts if the item/s your storing are ridged and long (punchline rimshot). seriously though I could just barely fit the platform in the bag and not much else, technically speaking the pack should be able to do way more than that but the curve got in the way which made for a fair amount of unused space. I'll try and add some pictures later. I'm likely going to sell this pack and go for a MR Pop Up 28.

Sitka is supposedly releasing a new pack this summer for whitetail hunters. I don’t have any details on it though other than looks like it has bat wings on the side to carry sticks.

I’m new to saddle hunting. With that being said this is what I’ve come up with. I have predator platform and pack. 5 wild edge steps, Jc k&s and my 20 dollar fanny pack from Walmart. I have binoculars, range finder, kill kit, grunt call, water bottle, gear hanger, rope to pull up bow, gloves, and room for snacks.
