"The official saddle hunting backpack thread"

I’m looking at the Kuiu Venture. Having a hard time debating the 1800 and 2300. Any suggestions? I know it depends on what I want to use it for and all. I mostly use a Badlands Tenet that is 1500 and need a little more room for layers and I also haul my saddle in pack. I usually have 4 Tethrd Ones and a platform also. Was thinking the 1800 at first but that’s not much more space especially in the colder season.
The two are very similar. 2300 is slightly heavier but uses 500D Cordura, has wider webbing and beefier more durable buckles, and has independent side and back compression straps so you have more options for strapping stuff outside. It’s only 2” taller and the same width. I’d go 2300 all day.

One thing I've realized I hate is having a big frame pack in the tree. Currently my best setup is a kifaru with a guide lid and quarter panel. I put the saddle, platform and sticks under the guide lid. When I get to the tree the lid comes off and the frame stays on the ground.

I wish I could find a similar setup that had no hip belt. Sometimes I connect it sometimes I don't.

One of my least favorite parts of being mobile is how much crap I need to get there and get in and I have the lightest of the lightest and most expensive **** a person can own. Wish I didn't have too.

Side note, I came back to the Thethrd one sticks after sending gen 2 back in the recall. I've owned every popular stick on the market. You're never getting these, they are absolutely perfect in every way.

Pulled trigger on the 2300 in ash. I have a Stryker on a duplex frame but wanted something a little smaller that I could run without a waist belt for non hunting stuff and not embarrass the wife. It will be my son’s pack when he hunts with me and if I can make 2TC work I’ll definitely use it for that even though it’s a little overkill.

Another one who bought a 2300. It arrived yesterday and I am impressed! Question about the 1800, does anybody know if it is possible to add separate side compression straps on it?

It is. It’s got vertical rows of mini molle like loops running down each “corner” of the pack. You can move the straps that are on there and in theory you could attach more, although I couldn’t see a place to buy straps from kuiu.

I have heard of people just calling kuiu Customer Service and getting additional straps. Might be worth the call.

I’ve done that, I bought mine second hand and was missing one. They sent me 4

For those that ordered the kuiu packs have yours shipped yet? I ordered mine Tuesday night just trying to get an idea when it will be in

Can all of you guys with the 2300 add photos of your setup? I am still trying to figure out how to best attach my fix platform and tethrd one sticks for the hike in.
