I know everyone gets tired of my JX3 nonsense.
But I’ve been using the versa pack setup now for two seasons, and a prototype of it the season prior.
It really is a great setup.
I sold my pop up, kifaru frame and bags, and any other packs I had.
I now have an exo shoulder harness on my pacseat, hangon stand, hybrid, and exo K3. I have an exo belt on the hybrid, the K3, and hangon, and am working on getting it mounted to pacseat(may just be easier to strap pacseat to the frame for any long walks).
I then use the versa pack for any actual gear storage that’s needed, with all of those platforms.
The whole kit stores incredibly well in offseason, there’s lots of crossover and repeatability in each setup.
I see all these 150-300.00 small pack setups, and they just don’t seem to offer the range of performance that having separate components can. And if I only had short walks, no need to ever frame anything, and didn’t use the hybrid, I’d just buy a 20.00 Walmart pack. It accomplishes the same thing as any of these small packs, without the price tag.
It took a season for me to really appreciate the versa pack setup. But it is perfect for all types of hunting I do - from elk day trips on the K3 frame(I’d use the standard exo bag for backcountry), to all my hunts with the hybrid, all the way to strapping one pouch to my belt for scouting. It’s just money. And quiet. And a good value considering the range of use.
Hunters have specific needs—carrying and accessing certain types of gear including binoculars, rangefinder, calls, flashlight, a smart phone; quietness of material; the ability to transform from a backpack to a meat hauler. When it's hunting season, the call of the wild demands a hunting...
