Treestand Suspension systems

Last week, I ran my .5 with the LWCG straps but added a Seek Outside lumbar pad to the belt. It just velcros around the belt, although the straps aren't quite positioned to mate perfectly. Still, it was a big improvement. At first I didn't like how it felt when I put it together at home, but in the field it made for a much more comfortable and less fatiguing carry imo.

I have a Kuiu frame and suspension, but haven't tried it with the stand yet. On the one hand, the stand is a rigid "frame" so adding a 14oz CF plate seems like unnecessary weight. On the other hand it's just 14oz, contours, carries nicely, and can be adapted to a pro pack configuration for additional hunting applications.

I just got the Backwoods Mobile Gear Duplex/Nuplex treestand mod kit. Haven't put it on the stand yet. It should offer an improvement in shouldering weight, but in truth, a proper carry should transfer much of the weight to the hips anyway, so the belt is more critical, and load lift to pull the weight towards the back so it rides on the hips.

I have the Seek Outside belt and I'm going to try rigging it to the stand paired with the BMG mod for the Kifaru shoulder straps with load lifters run to the sticks.

If that doesn't work out, it might be that just running the stand in a frame pack isn't a bad option at all.

That's to bad kuiu doesn't seem to offer the 1850 pack any more. That little pack is pretty versitile.

Does any have pictures of their .5 either kuiu straps on it. I’m just curious how it attaches.

Here’s it loaded down with cold weather gear for a 30 degree air Thursday morning. Feels very snug and tight for almost a mile walk in.View attachment 74127

Looks slick. What bow boot is that? Thanks. I have just started to run the kifaru stryker xl this week and although it carries extremely well I find it takes me a lot longer and much more fiddle factor than when I ran my badlands super day on the. 5. (Maybe I just need more practice)

I think I just need a better suspension on the .5 and I will be happy Going back to my old setup. Then I could sell the kifaru relatively unused. And buy more gear, err, I mean, pay more bills.

Eberlestock bow boot. Such a simple but essential upgrade for long hikes

I made a kydex “frame” with commercial grade Velcro to stabilize the straps and then connected that with hollow paracord to the frame.
I also ran the meat shelf straps under and through the frame and connected to the load lifter straps on the top.
Was then able to attach the extra straps to the sides of the stand. Very comfortable and simple setup.
I put almost 2 miles on it Thursday and no issues or shifting

Well, ended up with the kuiu carbon frame and suspension. Can’t speak a hunt with it yet but so far it’s awesome. I didn’t like how the LWCG straps and belt felt sloppy on me even cinched down. Total weight with stand, 3 sticks and everything I carry in, including water is 21 pounds. I’m pretty happy with that.

Used 8 120lbs zip ties to attach the stand to the carbon frame. I’m betting it will hold up. Time will tell.

One think that bothered me was the fact the suspension would be hanging off the stand blowing in the wind. I feel like with how stiff the suspension is, it won’t blow much.

I have used these to strap the backpack straps tight to the stand before I climb aboard.

Maybe you should cut back on the snacks and only take 23 snickers?

Just gotta watch out the load lifters can be to high and won't allow the platform teeth part sit on the tree
