Trophyline mission

After messing around with it last night...came up with what I think will work for me. Can pack in and should never have to take my pack off. Have platform, 4 hawks and 5 step black diamond aider as a bundle. Still up in the air over the nite ize tue or look into some titan straps. Should be a quiet and quick set-up!20200821_050759.jpg

Had a chance to get the mission in a tree this morning. I like the size and seemed fairly solid, some flex with my 275 lbs. but I don't have any other platforms to compare against
I'll be spending more time with it tomorrow.

Same here - got it up on a tree for a little test run this morning... I think I will really like this. Little more real estate to maneuver around the platform with my sz13 boots and not needing to necessarily check foot placement. Pretty solid, like a LW hang-on stand would be. I think it is kind of like Goldilocks on the size - not too big, not too small... but man did she eat ALL the porridge! :tearsofjoy:
Happy with it up to this point - time will tell. Few (small) spots on finish that appear to be ground off - guessing maybe high spots on the casting that weren't noticed before finish was applied and were ground down upon final inspection? Nothing bad - and likely would end up that way with time, but just something I noticed on mine. Perhaps if that was done before finish was applied? Other than that, seemingly built like a tank and will definitely find a spot in my later season arsenal, if not earlier.

Mine got her yesterday. I had a few minutes to look at it before we had to go somewhere for the weekend. So didn't get to play with it much. My first reaction was seemed not as solid as my preditor platform. I thought the top step would be a softer rubber. But then I had to leave so I put it back in the box and will have to check it out later. I think it will still be very functional. Some time in the tree will be the real test.

Can someone take the Mission to a scale so we can get a real weight?

Not exactly as advertised....6.1 lbs with strap, 5.7 without.

I’m most likely the only one that’s not impressed by this platform. I only weigh 175lbs and I shouldn’t be able to flex this but I can and it’s way too big for me. It’ll probably end up in the classifieds. I’ll give it a few days and see how I feel about it then.

Wow, that's quite heavy actually. Even my ambush is still under 5 with a buckle. It shouldn't be flexing when you weight 175 though, odds are you're setting it wrong.

No, I read the instructions and it was more than tight on the tree. Also not my first time setting a platform.

What’s the error on your scale? If you’re weighing 5lb on a 100 lb scale with a 1% error you could be off by a half a pound. A half a pound doesn’t seem like much until you’re measuring something that’s 5 pounds. I’d use a smaller scale to verify.

Probably not the only one, I think we’ve become accustomed to the final product being a bit heavier than we first thought. As for deflection, all these thing flex a bit. Still looking forward to comparing it to my assassin. The one that concerned me the most was my LWCG platform. I’m 275 & it was unnerving. I know it would take a lot for these things to fail, but it’s all about confidence in your gear at the price that your willing to pay for it.

Kinda tough to compare the ambush to this one just looking at the price. Since this mission one is out for delivery... so later.

I am pretty critical of most things I buy.

The 2 ambushs I had were ~5lbs 1oz with strap. It flexed a lot and popped. When you stepped to far to the back of the ambush it would foldup. So you need another strap to avoid that. So you can add like 6-7oz to the weight to make it useful. They were also very odd to cam over.

Manufacturers do lie about their weights...how many times has your bow come up short on the IBO rating?

I don't think that math adds up. That error would be 10%. half a pound of 5 lbs is 10%. A 1% error would be .05lbs.

I'm not looking to turn this into a Competitor vs competitor competition. What I can say is regardless of manufacturer most platforms cam pretty solid. 90% of people who used the ambush cammed the platform over wrong (I'm 200 lbs and it is extremely violent on the trees I sit it because how hard it bites. It does not kickout and flex whatsoever. ). With that said I have two Mission's on the way. The weight difference will be negligible if the platform feels great. BUT, at over 6lbs, we're getting pretty close to saddle hunting out of a treestand. Which I have considered a few times. lol..

Manufacturers do lie about their weights ala “Hawk” anything.

yep...

Hawk is pretty bad
Muddy might be worse. Those pro sticks were way over advertised
Millennium the m7 I had was almost 4 lbs heavier
XOP the vanish XT was supposed to be 11lbs it was 13.5
I remember preordering the LWCG stand it was supposed to 7.5lbs ready to hunt it’s was like 9.5lbs
Beast sticks were supposed to be 1.4lb but upon release the weight migrated north a little.

Replace the rubber piece with a foam pad and it is a treestand!
