What did you do today that’s related to saddle hunting?

Don't worry....I promise u they work.
Surprisingly that afternoon I never needed it...I had it on standby but never fired it up.

Off season hog hunts and archery season can be brutal. ThermaCELL, permethrin, long sleeves, mesh head net, and light gloves.

My buddy had a thing last year he said he bought on Amazon...it was a fine mosquito net "jacket"....he said it worked good. I don't know a brand or whatever...he said he looked up bug suit or something along those lines

Before ThermaCELL, I tried a Cabelas bug suit and was out of the woods before daylight. Anywhere it was taught, the skeeters bit right through.

After that, I got a BugTamer brand bug suit and never had this problem again. It has spacer mesh inside that creates separation between the finer outer mesh and skin. Downside is, it can be on the warm side.

ThermaCELL is the ticket for sure.

Bug Tamer is the only way to go. I have two, one for scouting and one for hunting. Might be my most used piece of gear.
Been studying alot of compounds. Do I want one.....kinda sorta. Do I need one, not the way I've been shooting my trad bows.
Rain the next day or so. Time to hang a camera or two.

Went to move a camera. Found a bunch of brambles, some decent tracks near in an area a new clear cut, a marsh and mixed hardwoods come together. Bumped something on my way out so hopefully that turns out to be a good area

On the bed post?
I wish it had been something like that but no I had to stub my foot walking up the driveway wearing my crocs. Didnt go to the doc but it is swolt up, purple and green. I figure theres some cracks in there for sure. It's straight so I called it good enough. Didnt figure the doc would do anything for it other than give me a bill to pay. Got enough of them already.

Rocked by the Croc Doc

Re-tied my climbing hitch (WLR) on my rappel line and started tinkering with my lines, building towards a 2TC setup. Considering how I want to put it all together, seems to be several different ways to do a footloop. I already have a JRB-style Garda hitch footloop that I can incorporate. Also finally tweaked the replacement leg straps on my Recon, decided I needed to re-do my bungee belt and figure out suspenders.

I got out early and scouted a very dense thicket, roughly 300 acres in size, and ended up finding a couple of great spots. One is a scrape in a very thick transition. The other was a beaten down path through some young pines. This will probably end up being a ground spot since there aren't any climbable sized trees. I bumped a few deer out while scouting around.

Working on minimizing what gear is needed and carrying it in the woods. Ordered a turkey vest and Buzzard Roost saddle (one of the few I haven’t tried ). Going to sling my sticks and platform over my shoulder and utilize the vest for carrying necessities.

Practiced a couple one stick climbs and rappeled down. Almost had to do the climb of shame to hook up my pull down rope and would've had to if I had thrown my stick to the ground. In stead I have some paracord tied to it so I can hook it on a kydex hook. Set the stick up again and stepped up a step to hook up the pull down rope. Pull the stick off the tree and off like batman

I ordered a new bow and another set of arrows. I’ve got the Blackout Epic 2 45-60# in strata camo on the way! It’s been hot as hades so I haven’t been in the woods, but I’ve been shooting my current bow a bunch.

I put out a few dog proofs and sardines to get this varmint. He’s removed 1 wing nut and a screw from the feeder motor. He would have gotten a pass had he not been wrenching on my feeder.

It's not as nice as that pac press. But it does work. I had to flip the outer posts over so I could press the crossbow. It wouldn't relax enough to open after I took the cables off. I Mounted it on my rolling hunting cart. I think I might be able to rig up a draw board to it.
For $100 not bad I guess. View attachment 87059
Just seeing this! That press looks awesome!! Can’t beat that pricing either!!

Went to the GON Outdoor blast this am. Got to sit in a Cruzr and bought his smaller platform. I was hoping to find a platform and the cruzr looked sweet….now I can ditch the Hawk that’s been good to me. I also went to Cabela’s and had my new Blackout bow tuned up……bet I spent 45 minutes with the guy and shot several arrows through paper etc.. it was first time doing something like this so it was a lot of fun…..and the bow is shooting sweet!
