Small game season opens here in GA August 15 so I’ll start scouting when I have a chance to kill a hog with the .22 mag. I am not a fan of the heat so I haven’t been in the woods much at all lately. All I hunt is public land so I don’t get to put out feeders and stuff.

This morning I researched getting a Verifier Peep sight. My shooting eye is getting worse. Can see targets fine but pins are blurry. Been shooting for a month & gonna have to bite the bullet.

Covered 6.6 miles saturday and 6.4 yesterday getting the last cams up on a mountain wma I havent ever hunted. Heat index north of 110 both days. Actual was 102 when I got back to the truck yesterday. Prolly let them soak for the next 6 week and check them right as season is about to start. 8 cams spread over about 7500 acres.

I use one and I love it. Makes my pin crystal clear.
Unfortunately the 2 bow shops close to me dont deal with verifiers or clarifiers. And the next closest shop is over an hour away. I see a chart on the lancaster site thats helps you pick your verifier by the strength of your reading glasses. Any suggestions, tips or recommendations to make this go smoother than what it seems its gonna be?
Dont have a good feeling about Lancaster yet due to the fact I emailed them to match my current arrows, with all the info from the shaft & she responded what size arrows are they? So Im cautious.

I started with the pink then the blue then this year I got the white. My reading glasses have gone from 1.50 power to 1.75 and then to 2.00 this year. Hopes this helps.

I just got back from Wally-world with some 2.00 readers. Gonna start there, about as close to normal, if possible, for me Lol. Thnx

I covered right around 5 miles scouting new to me areas on Sat and Sun morning. Weather cooled off a bit in the mornings but I still sweated my butt off.

Not really saddle hunting related but today I SRT climbed up 30 ft in a large maple in the backyard to trim out a large dead limb with the handsaw. The neighbors all think I'm a crazy old man climbing ropes and rappelling suspended from the tree by nothing but a mesh diaper. :tearsofjoy:

Not today but Friday... dropped off my application for the city archery hunt. Didn't get drawn last year, we'll see how this year shakes out.

Also got 3 shafts set up with glue-on field points, ready for paper tuning and nock tuning, before I fletch them. Ran out of time to shoot this weekend unfortunately.

Yesterday I put aiders on my Novix Mini’s. Today, I may go hike some public after work.

Took my 8 cubic foot construction debris bag target (made by stuffing plastic sacks in it) that was falling apart (polypropylene debris bag in the Sun for 5 years) and stuck the whole thing inside a new, larger debris bag and zip tied it shut. I hope to get another 5 years of shooting.

These construction debris bags are perfect for this and you can make a target for $20 that would cost hundreds. I just wish they were polyester.

You talking the heavy-duty trash bags? Contractor jobsite cleanup bags?

I've used feed and seed bags in the past as well. If you know the guy at the feed store you can get a feed bag stuffed with pallet wrap. Offer the guy a six-pack to set it by the dumpster and pick it up after work.

It's a woven bag meant for multiple use and heavy loads. For me, a constractor bag is a super thick/big garbage bag.

It's similar to a feed sack, but on steroids.

That link is the new, big one. My previous ones (that fit inside it) were Lowe's brand and significantly smaller.

That linked one is almost too big (for me) to fill up the way I did the small ones.

I told friends/family/coworkers to save me bags. My uncle gave me a bunch of empty feed sacks and a buddy from work brought in all the plastic pellet stove bags he had. It took a lot.

They need to be compressed a bit. So, first stuffed regular leaf bags with the bags and pushed the air out and zip tied them. I then arranged those inside the big debris bag and then stuff the between spaces with more bags.

Works great.

PS....first go around, I filled one debris bag, and then capped it with another flipped upside down. Big mistake, they stretch then snap back around the around the arrow and the two layers trap your field point/insert...each arrow is like pulling a sword from a stone....the new setup is single layer (much better)

PS....was looking around and found that the first bag I used was 89 gallons (no longer sold). The second I put that into is 200 gallons.

If I had to start from scratch, I'd probably use this one (big but not too big).
