What did you do today that’s related to saddle hunting?

Goofed around with various hitches above my Smart 2.0 device. Fun, still have some tweaking to do.

Might call my hunting buddy later to discuss his setup as he's trying to get into a saddle for the first time.

Finalized packing the truck. Will be gone the week before the opener so I want to make sure on my return I am 100% ready to roll. All climbing options, platforms, etc. are always in there. I never know where I might end up due to hunting pressure. I like options.View attachment 71494
Looks like my truck! But hey, it is hunting season! What else is there?

I redid my tether handles again. Added a gun/bow mount to the bike. Took my wife to the airport so she can spend a week in Texas for vacation! Trying to figure out where to go in the am. I’ve had a few beers so I’m homebound tonight. I’ve been scouting, but not having much luck on my public land spots.

Practice climb went great, felt back in the groove of things. 3 sticks with cable aiders and the Backwoods Mobile gear versa aider and I’m getting 18’ pretty easy. Reallllllly liking that versa aider.

I hunted some public ground. Found a good spot, had a decent wind. Wanted to whack a doe because I need some meat. Deer came in not quite how I was thinking, got pegged pretty quick by the first two, then the wind stopped and the thermals pulled 180* different and blew the next doe that came in out.

Good hunt though. Saw 4 deer, handful of turkeys, mama bobcat and two kittens, and I smashed an arma-dildo with the f150 on the way home.

Cutover that way.

Nice! Sounds like an awesome day!

One of my OCD annoyances is organization. Having both my tether and linemans belt in the same pouch meant that they’d get jumbled around and would sometimes pull both out if I only wanted my tether.

Found these velcro straps at the hardware store. They were about 8” too long so I cut the down and resewed them.

I shivered just reading velcro thinking of the noise haha

Did a couple of low one stick climbs and tried out the Method 2 XL. I'm pretty sure it's going back, I don't like how hard it is to adjust bridge length once it's been weighted. I think I may be chasing perfection when I already have a setup that is dang close for me. (Aerohunter Merlin with a back band) I did a sunrise to sunset sit last year with no issues.

I also tested a new autoblock with the beal 5.5mm cordette. It worked great.

I had the same experience with my method 2 bridge. I like the 2 panel though so I might try a different hitch or try a tubular webbing bridge like this one: https://hangfree.co/products/adjustable-tubular-webbing-tree-tether

Gotta wait until next friday but it should also be 20 degrees cooler.

Same, except my excuses were: laundry machine bearings crapped out Friday night, my wife's car brakes started squealing 1 week ago so am replacing all the brakes, then my daughter had a B'day party on opener Sat AND Sunday! I was drop off driver as my wife wasn't feeling well....so hopefully I'll get out Friday!

Ooh, just need to change your bridge... ill show you what I did to mine!

My opening weekend plans evaporated in the puff of smoke left by a cyclic-vomiting tiny monster, complete with ER visit. My grief was attenuated by my daughter's health improving, the covered target stand I built, and receiving my shipments from Ethics and StaySharp.

Ordered a pair of suspenders to hold my saddle up over my flat butt so it doesn't fall down during my walk-ins. Scouted a potential spot on the local NWR amidst 1.7 billion mosquitoes and 95 degree temps for opening day!! Hope it's cooler in 2 weeks!!
