What did you do today?

Ate steamy venison chili during a slow day on the ice. Half a bucket of perch now rest filleted next to the rest of my venison stash. Life is good.

Took my dog for a long walk in the County forest, then sat by the fireplace with a nice glass of Sauvignon Blanc and read Beyond Fair Chase: The Ethic and Tradition of Hunting by Jim Posewitz.

I highly recommend this little book. Quite the gem. I ordered copies for my kid and hunting buddies.

I played with my ropes yesterday and today.
Revisited my figure 8 usage.
Worked a few bugs out of my favorite system.
I think it rocks with minimal investment.
I put pictures on figure 8 post.

Sometimes things look simple and one would as, whats the big deal?
Only by climbing and experiencing things can you know the how and why systems are procured.

I went to REI and bought a few biners and cordage to play with today.

Reading your post about unloading your gear I couldn't help but think about my own season.
One umbilical hernia and then a torn meniscus. Now that's a bummer..

Looking forward to turkey season.
Last year was a windy gail for me.
I hope for better weather this time.

Went to work and got recertified for First Aid, CPR and AED. Then plowed my and my mother in laws driveways after work. We're getting pounded with more lake effect here in WNY. I'm super worried about the wild turkeys. When I was snowshoeing this past Saturday to check my trail cameras, it was 1pm in the afternoon and we flushed one off the roost. The snow is so deep their just roosting all day. Hopefully my snowshoe trails helps some of the criters.
