What did you do today?

Practiced a little DRT. First try but getting the hang of it.

Worked on my stealth camper build. Finished my heavy arrow build. My Ethics archery order came on Saturday. 570 grain with 250 up front. Arrows are dialed in and flying nice and straight.

Oh Yeah and order some Magnus 150g 4blade buzzcuts. Oh yeah, come on September.

Killed invasives for 5 MORE hours, then released a few crab apples.

Looked for morels in the yard (found just one but it's early).

Now I'm sitting on my porch with a cold one...had 9 turkeys, 4 hens, 4 jakes, 1 tom, come into my bird feeder and I thought it would be a good time to try out my phone's ring tone since they were only 15 yards away. I changed the tone last year to a recording of turkey sounds and I did that so I wouldn't have to silence my phone when deer hunting.
I had the turkeys going nuts from the sound of my ring tone. Haha.

Crazy to think y’all have privet up there. I hate the stuff. It’s all over here. I just cut down some large bushes in the back yard of our rental house.

Yeah we have lots of it in this region. Some neighboring properties have patches that are 100% privet. I'm determined to not let it take over my place.
I have a lot of multi flora rose and the privet grows right up through it which makes the hack and squirt so brutal and time consuming. I have thorns stuck in me in places I didn't know I had.

27 posts and not one has mentioned shed hunting? Am I the only one who is doing it?
Its combined with PRE season scouting...I reject the phrase "post" season scouting. ALL scouting is prep for the next hunt, so calling it post season scouting is not exactly accurate. I'm scouting now for NEXT season.
You guys that aren't beating the brush now are missing the boat.
Find any?

My son is so over this quarantine! Hasn’t seen friends/anybody besides family in over a month!
Anyways he wanted to spend 24 hours on our trampoline soooooooo we put a tent up on it for the overnight!

Not today so much but sure was a busy weekend. Matt @Out on a limb gets me every damn time he puts on a sale.. haha first sale a couple weeks back I bought 4 sticks, next day a ridge runner for a buddy to try although I may keep it if he doesn't get it soon. haha. Caught his live feed sunday and ordered the scout for the sticks. Im definitely not short on platforms or climbing methods right now. About done with scouting for another month until I put cameras back out. But my other "time consumer" is in full swing, so I spent all night Friday putting arrows through fish. :)

Pic gets a like. Were there any inefficiencies?

Yep! Last season I kinda had to figure out what to do once I got to the top of my 3rd step when I needed to pull my platform off my pack. I also hung the steps on the first step and left them dangling as I climbed.

1. Use Nite Ize to hold my 3rd step as I climb up.
2. Hang pack from tether while I mount the platform. Once the platform is mounted, loosen the tether and shimmy it up the tree until im on top of the platform. From there, transition the pack to the HYS strap.

I also put the silencing stuff on all the buckles of my sticks and platform. Made a huge difference.
I haven't timed it all yet, but if I can do everything in under 10 minutes I'll be happy. Definitely need more reps.

The same thing I've done for the last 3-5 weeks. Check on my students, supervise my two children to make sure they have their work done, tell my youngest to stop sniveling, and twidle my thumbs. I will probably load up my canoe and paddle around to find some fish and scout for deer.

I made some arrows up today and shot in the yard.
Going to the club tomorrow to shoot the range, climb a couple times and air out the camper.

As far as climbing goes I believe in practice with attention to detail and what you would change in procedure or hardware.
For me going up and down the tree is by the numbers down to how and when to roll up the rope.
You make your most tidy pack/bundle and that's how you want to do it.
Otherwise you end up undoing it to do it right or carry stuff loose or rattling.

I agree....consistancy and organization. You should be able do it blindfolded. Practice in your hunting clothes and shoes so no surprises. I try to climb to 10-15, pull up the bow, and shoot an arrow or 2, 1 time every week or 2 or at least climb to trim limbs or something.. .the climb is dangerous so I like to practice regular.

Pulled all the gear out and climbed the tree again to make the climb more efficient and to identify and gear shortfalls.

Pic for attention.
At first look that seems like a lot of stuff for a light mobile setup. But on closer inspection you really have everything laid out. I have to practice climbing more and hang my platform,i have skipped that step so far....

Trying to finish chicken coop. Way to much of a perfectionist for carpentry. Now my wife wants to start remodeling kitchen and bathroom. Feel like i may never get to practice with my saddle
