Crazy to think y’all have privet up there. I hate the stuff. It’s all over here. I just cut down some large bushes in the back yard of our rental house.Killed invasives for 5 hours, then released a few crab apples.
Looked for morels in the yard (found just one but it's early).
Now I'm sitting on my porch with a cold one...had 9 turkeys, 4 hens, 4 jakes, 1 tom, come into my bird feeder and I thought it would be a good time to try out my phone's ring tone since they were only 15 yards away. I changed the tone last year to a recording of turkey sounds and I did that so I wouldn't have to silence my phone when deer hunting.
I had the turkeys going nuts from the sound of my ring tone. Haha.
Yeah we have lots of it in this region. Some neighboring properties have patches that are 100% privet. I'm determined to not let it take over my place.Crazy to think y’all have privet up there. Find any?27 posts and not one has mentioned shed hunting? Am I the only one who is doing it?
Its combined with PRE season scouting...I reject the phrase "post" season scouting. ALL scouting is prep for the next hunt, so calling it post season scouting is not exactly accurate. I'm scouting now for NEXT season.
You guys that aren't beating the brush now are missing the boat.
Only 6 this year.Find any?

Pulled all the gear out and climbed the tree again to make the climb more efficient and to identify and gear shortfalls.

I agree....consistancy and organization. You should be able do it blindfolded. Practice in your hunting clothes and shoes so no surprises. I try to climb to 10-15, pull up the bow, and shoot an arrow or 2, 1 time every week or 2 or at least climb to trim limbs or something.. .the climb is dangerous so I like to practice regular.I made some arrows up today and shot in the yard.
Going to the club tomorrow to shoot the range, climb a couple times and air out the camper.
As far as climbing goes I believe in practice with attention to detail and what you would change in procedure or hardware.
For me going up and down the tree is by the numbers down to how and when to roll up the rope.
You make your most tidy pack/bundle and that's how you want to do it.
Otherwise you end up undoing it to do it right or carry stuff loose or rattling.
At first look that seems like a lot of stuff for a light mobile setup. But on closer inspection you really have everything laid out. I have to practice climbing more and hang my platform,i have skipped that step so far....View attachment 27617

Hmmm... I'm gonna try doing my Helium straps like you did. I always worry about carrying them in a separate pocket (already lost one) and pulling them out. Thanks!View attachment 27617
