What hunting item do you regret buying most?

Remington 1187 semi auto 12 gauge. The one gun in my collection I could do without, and the first gun I would sell if I ever needed to sell a gun.
Are you kidding me? I love my 1187.... which I got as gift in 1988!! Killed many a Turkey with mine and it shoots foster slugs like a champ too. Its the only shotgun I have that is actually somewhat difficult to get the slug barrel into the receiver but she throws a slug like no tomorrow once you have it in.

Marry a woman who hunts and you'll never have this problem...

... Instead you will have a different problem: You will have to buy 2 of everything, find 2 bedding areas, mark 2 killing trees, and process 2 deer at a time, etc etc.

Or in the spirit of the NO SHAME thread, marry a girl who hunts, but only likes to hunt mornings, since everyone here is lazy and can't get out of bed. Then you guys can just take turns hunting and watching the kids. :p

Trust me, i’d rather have those problems instead of getting asked “Why do you need to hunt Sat morning didn’t you already go last weekend” for the last 20 years straight!

Another good one, “You hunt more than anyone i know”. To which i ask, who else do you know that hunts other than my friends? crickets......

Ozonics. I was however able to sell it to a buddy for a good price. I got it on sale so I pretty much came out even.

They don’t make the new ones like they used to.

Amen to that. Modern Remington is a cheap, Walmart brand that is coasting on its reputation and deserves the ruin that is quickly approaching. If it wasn't for the fact that seeing a large Americam firearms company being run into the ground by an investment company reeks of fishy, I'd lose 0 sleep over it.

The old Remington 11-87 is a good gun though, as was the 1100 before it.

Totally agree with Nutter on this one. The older Rem 1100, 1187 and even 870s are good guns. I had a 2 year old 1187 supper mag break where the barrel is welded to the part that slides over the ammo tube. I called Remington and they told me there was nothing they can do because the gun was over a year old. It was a dedicated turkey gun and may have had 15 rounds through it. Junk from a company that doesn't stand behind their products because they know they're junk!

My 870 is a piece of junk...but it does go bang and kills lots of ducks....

I got an 870 in 83 when I was 13. She isn't much to look at anymore but functions flawlessly.
Mine is beat. 15 plus years of duck hunting will do that. And it's like "painted" almost a fake cerakote that rusts the second you touch it. But it kills with my Ithaca, and binelli...and if I drop it in the lake I don't care.

Sounds like the best duck gun ever. Why are you bashing it???

A few years back...New bow and arrows, release, warm hunting clothes, boots, Gloves, Hunting license, mini thermos...,for my stepdaughter who always wanted to be a bowhunter and became old enough to hunt. She decided after a few hours of shooting the bow and getting up early once to go hunting that she likes video games and sleeping til noon better than hunting.

Touche. Point was, tolerances are crap, it rusts instantly, bolts are like butter, even with proper gunsmith tools...but yes, as much of a POS it is, it performs flawlessly.....

I hate turkey hunting, and somehow a savage 220 and a beretta silver pigeon found their way into my gun safe. Between those and my trusty old mossberg 500 20 gauge, I dont have much use for the 1187.

Same thing happened to Gibson guitars. If you ruin Remington or Gibson, you have to be trying to screw up.

I could go on a 3 page rant about how dumb you have to be to go from making guitars for Slash, Jimmy Page, Clapton, BB king, and dozens of other musical idols to not being able to keep the lights on...
