Why don't yall 2TC?

That's funny. I would have given the opposite advice. :D I climb the high side of a tree when it leans. Leaning back hard into your system, much like one would lean back into a lineman's belt, will give stability during your climb.
Interesting! I always felt like I get pulled to one side or the other since our foot acts like a pivot point and felt more exhausted trying to stay on top. Maybe I was doing it wrong.... i cant wait for better weather when we can make and share more videos! I made a short video today while it was 28° but all next week will be single digits again....

OK guys, now I am totally confused. Dont take that personal, that happens to me alot, LOL.
Climbing on the high side I felt like I was wrestling with King Kong.
Looks to me like this climbing method is very tree specific. Much like SRT. The title of this thread is why dont you 2TC so excuse me but I am going to tell you.
I hunt public and I need a climbing method that will work on any climable tree. After I couldn't get in this tree with 2TC, I grabbed some climbing sticks, went up and hung out on my new Transformer.
If I am hunting on public and I get bumped, I need a climbing method that works on any tree.

I dont use this climbing so feel free to ignore.....If I plan on going up a leaning tree I climb the low side and use my linesman belt to pull me into the trunk

OK, sounds like this is not a good tree to 2TC. My issue is I hate the weight of sticks. But if I can't climb it with sticks it is unclimable. On public if I leave the truck, go a mile back and someone is in my spot and I have to move, I need a climbing method that works when I go to plan B. So i will have to deal with the weight or go to my pac seat.
Or going to try steps with aiders again this week.

That hanging out gets a little freaky at>100' the rope your on seems to shrink in diameter.

I think you and I are looking for the same thing. I like the fact that I can get on most trees with sticks, so they are the safest bet when walking into a totally new spot, but I hate carrying the weight and they are awkward. We have a lot of monster trees though that sticks just won't work on and they seem to be the ones the acorns are under. I love the simplicity and safety of DRT and this works great in monster trees, but we also have a million pine trees with no limbs for 60 feet. My little climber is perfect for the telephone pole pines but forget about trees with limbs. I think I'm looking for a unicorn.

Maybe that's a typo but I'd have a hard time shooting anything from 100 feet up in a tree!
Unless you're talking abt rock climbing....

Finding a method that will work on any/every tree is a goal for all of us I believe. I have tried every method I can think of to do the exact same thing you are doing. Hunting southeast Ohio public ground often requires going a good ways from the road or path to get away from pressure. I have found that the 2TC method is best for me due to the fact it is the lightest. Sticks, one stick, steps, aiders on ratchet straps all can climb the same trees, and all can struggle with some trees. I have come to the conclusion that there is no one perfect set up for me. But, this is as close as I have come so far. If I know I’m gonna be within 3/4 mile of the road I will pack my dump pouch with my repel setup, anything further than that and it’s just two ropes for me. Hope this helps ya

I haven't given up on it by a long shot. If it can replace my climber on those straight, limbless pine trees, etc., we have It would be worth it. The biggest thing right now is the foot loop. I really struggled with it the second time I tried it. I wasn't so bad the first. I'm regressing! I think I'm going to try a loop with a piece of rubber air hose to keep the rope apart.

It has been mentioned here about using this method once in order to install a false crotch for SRT. I don't SRT but I do DRT. How is this being done?

I was making reference to rec tree climbing as far as hunting 20-25' is plenty high for my area.

I like my foot loop atached with a friction hitch at groin height for adjustment.it takes the same amount of movements to loosen and raise the hitch each time as putting the foot loop on ,but more comforitable and less hassle.learning to use your adjustents.has helped me alot.havent tried a leaner.i just think it takes more practice to make our techniques fluid.and develope ways around problematic trees like we did with our other systems.got faith in you geo.you will make it work

So I’ve watched a few videos on this 2TC, and honestly, the only reason I don’t do it, is because I’m learning SRT…..I have little doubt one day I’ll give it a shake

SRT is my primary method as well. I've also forgotten SRT stuff and had to use my 2TC gear to climb SRT. I've also screwed up my rope placement such as getting a canopy anchor snagged on a lower, weaker limb which forced me to 2TC to de-snag it.
