Why don't yall 2TC?

3/16 diameter. I went by the directions seen in the video below. I also purchased the materials he links in the description. Yes, it is full bury.

(219) 2TC ( Two Tether Climbing) System Build - YouTube
I've been meaning to get on and add a disclaimer to be sure to really inspect the Amazon DYNEEMA. I hear there have been splices found in the cable as a result of manufacturing changes since I posted this. Pretty obvious and getting a full bury is impossible with the splices, so you are probably good.

I looked it over very carefully and the bit I got was one piece. I did see a comment that this variety frayed more but so far it seems OK after a few climbs. Of course, I'm comparing that to what little Amsteel I have which is the bridge of my Cruzr saddle.

The next one I make I will likely just buy enough Amsteel from someone like Eastern Woods Outdoors. Thanks for the build video. This is a really neat little set up.

A quick question on ropes. I am thinking about splitting the difference between the ultralight Amsteel top tether and the 10.4mm rope I have and go with something like 8mm Sterling OpLux with a Swabish tied from 6mm Sterling TRC for my top tether and possibly retaining the Amsteel foot tether as a good compromise.

How stiff is Sterling OpLux? I want rope with a bit of stiffness, so it won't get caught on bark as bad and will be easier to advance. Would Sterling HTP Static 9mm be better? I have some Canyon Elite 9mm and it seems like it is a bit large to be 9mm. That's why I am leaning toward 8mm.

Sounds like Sterling HTP is what you’re looking for. Stiffer than oplux and the sheath seems tougher against abrasion

I have close to 20 different tethers and C-IV is probably my favorite rope for that.
It's pretty stiff and works really good with a Swabisch or a Duck...

Oplux is not stiff at all. (works awesome for a rappel rope)

Thanks for the input, guys, this is just what I needed to know. The C-IV and HTP are both 9mm. Any recommendations on a similar 8mm rope?

I just got some c-iv as well. Have not rappelled on it yet, but sheath feels very stiff.
Do you trust the ropeman on it (specs state 10-13mm) ?

Oh sheesh!
I'm not so sure I used my Ropemans on C-IV now that you mentioned it.
I might not have...

* I fixed my post just in case *

At least for just the top teather
This is sort of where I am at playing around with the idea of an 8 or 9mm tether on top and using the Amsteel foot loop. I would like to see how that works. The question surrounding knots of Amsteel on Amsteel makes me a bit nervous, and although it will likely hold, the prussik is not easily adjustable for me at height, as in those fine tune length adjustments I might need to make fast and smooth. I can achieve that easier on climbing rope with a friction hitch and a tender or a mechanical.

I do agree that for me, the large ropes are more comfortable to climb on in general. At this point I am experimenting to see what the best compromise in weight, bulk and ease of use will be for me. Who knows what I will settle on by October?

We have recently started using a Schwabich instead of a prussik and it's much easier to adjust

I tried 2TC two summers ago and thought it would work well for me after trying it out over the summer. Once hunting season came and I started climbing in the woods with my full hunting gear I noticed that the my bib overalls really made it a lot more work to get my feet up and in the foot loop. If I left my foot in the loop, it was a lot of work to hold my leg up to get the tether up. I would end up a sweaty mess. I've still kept the 2TC in my gear and have used it a couple times when going to a new tree with no branches to SRT and once when I got my throw ball stuck trying to SRT a tree with a bunch of limbs last year.

Anyway, I've been noticing that now that I'm in my mid 40's, I'm not as flexible, and it's actually hard to just left my leg up high to put my shoes on. I've always lifted and worked out, but I'll admit I've always skimped on stretching/flexibility. I think part of (possibly the main reason) 2TC hasn't been for me is because I'm too tight/inflexible. This thread has got me wanting to try some of the changes discussed with 2TC. I also plan to start working more on stretching/flexibility for quality of life, but hopefully that will also transfer over into easier 2TC. Not sure if anyone else has gone through any of this or not, but it's something I noticed and am going to work on.
I just turned 55 on Wednesday and just recently started taking way better care of myself than any other time in my life. Saddle hunting and the fun I’m having has made me want to live longer! I drink well over a gallon of water every day and I NEVER get headaches……unless I drank a bunch of cheap beer! I eat a lot of nuts(NO PEANUTS NOR CASHEWS)and have lost another 10#s. I even started doing a set of push-ups every morning! Maybe just 1 set of 20, but 3 weeks ago, I barely did 5 bad ones, now I do 15-20 good ones. It’s helping me with my bow too which I shoot almost every day. I’m having a great time and feeling better than ever……gotta quit smoking though! Keep on keeping on and pound the water too!

I climb fine with the oplux by the way.its just flimsy er.a little more fiddle to advance but not bothersome at all ,maybe an larger trees.im still learning

Black is 11.13.....camo is 10.5......oplux is 8 mill..I'm going to run the forest camo10 .5 .it makes a better hoop than the other 2 for advancing up.and looks better.smooth sheeth like the oplux I think makes it a little more ridged than the black 11.13.
