I only had a couple trees last year that 6’was too short. I very rarely wished for shorter ones. With the new knot method the aggravation with longer ropes is pretty much non existent.

New knot? Golly gee I just can’t keep track of al the fun on this forum anymore lol

I have 6 footers but I mainly am concerned with the bulk of all the rope. Around here most anywhere you can find great trees at a max of 2ft diameter... so 3 feet of rope should be plenty. Just looking to see my options.

It takes over 6 feet of rope to go around a 2 foot diameter tree.

I would like to know.... 1. how long does it take on average to climb the tree with 1 rope aider. 2. I never see anyone making a climb down video placing the steps back in the bag. Might be nice.

That would be an interesting video. Really once you get two in the bag it’s pretty easy. As fire as time goes it’s not a race for me. 10 minutes is probably an average time for me. That’s from the ground to bow and backpack hanging. That’s one thing I like about the stepps room for two feet so you aren’t in some painful weird position like you would be with other climbing methods. Just slow methodical quiet movements.

Sometimes I just drop them to the ground making sure they dont hit each other and just pack them up when I hit the ground

AH...you have not looked hard enough :) Here you go. And this was one I would call a fairly complicated tree, and before I knew what I was really doing. One of my first climbs with swaider/knaider. Pete
