Making the EONPOW climbers a viable option!

Been dreaming of some kind of climbers like these. Too bad they are built so all those mods are needed. Looks very doable, if they can be found to purchase.

Come on @PJC, you've been around here long enough to know that everything you buy will need modification. That's half the fun of saddle hunting. Without modification, @g2outdoors would have nothing to post videos on.... ha!

I guess that's true. It's what keeps saddle hunting from becoming mainstream too. Personally, I'm ok with that

@Boudreaux
Hey Boswell are you going to use these Eonpow climbers at all. Legal spikes on public land... Are they worth trying.
Thanks for posting Ontariofarmer. I'd been checking from time to time, but hadn't seen them available for a long enough time that I forgot about it. I picked up a set last night. Looking forward to messing around with them.

Long over due, but here is the video. Sorry it is longer than I wanted it, but oh well.

Thanks,
Boswell
What did you end up using for an elastic rope (drop prevention rope) for your eonpow climbers?

Yes, my plan is to use these more this year, just ordered a second set! They make it easy for me to travel with them over climbing sticks. I can throw these with my Kestrel and platform in a backpack and check it on a plane when I fly back to MO. So, I will use them more and more. For 80$ you can’t find a climbing stick option that is this good.
I also plan on using them to climb the aspen trees out here around wallows and water holes.

I ended up using some 3/16 or 1/4” shock cord. I attached them the same way as the paracord, but I was able to make them shorter. Now, standing with them on and clipped to my saddle the rope has just a little slack. So now there is no risk of the cord getting caught between the cleat and the tree.

Thanks,
Boswell

Have you tried on soft bark, like a pine?

Can't imagine it would be any different. Pine might not be the tree to use them on though, simply because of all the limbs.

Came across this version which seems to address a lot of the concerns with the other system.

Here's with longer attachments for trees, Amazon has the pole climbing set for $399...

Those are pretty slick. Has anyone seen a price or availability?

I’d pay a penny for these.

The pole climbing set wouldn't be big enough for most of the trees I hunt. I looked into the tree climbing set. Besides being super expensive (assuming they're more than the pole climbers), I believe they came in at 10 pounds.

Hi Red,
What is super expensive?
