SRT Guys?

Nah!!! The pictures turn out better against that whitish wood. Plus you should be proud of the thing you work hard for. I don't get that impression, I just wanted to mess with ya.
Haha I knew that coming from you.

You wouldn’t use them rock climbing. But plenty strong enough to hang from.
There’s plenty of lightweight locking carabiners out there that are full strength though. So mine are all 24kn or thereabouts
I just use the 20 times bodyweight rule, 18KN are rated for around 4050lbs. So a 200lb man would be no issue, Like you said for what we and arborists do its a non concern.

Depends on the terrain and limbs available brydan. Ive used the big shot for limbs up to 60 feet just because the other ones wouldnt work or id use the crotch of the tree

Sorry man, I didn't mean to sound like I was giving you a hard time about using one. I was just surprised to see somebody was using one for hunting, that's all.

I bought it for recreational tree climbing for me and my buddies, but i only use it for private land presets. Its too big to lug around on public land.

Erniepower....what about an ATC for rappelling? I am an avid rockclimber & for raps I (& just about everybody) uses an atc. Less bulky, & doesn't twist up rap rope.

I haven't tried that, but there's no reason I can't.

I usually extend the atc off of my harness with a sewn runner. (22kn ) Then I can clip a prussic knot to my belay loop attached to the " brake strand " as a safety back up.

Just looked at it... only good for rapping on a single strand (or belaying ) I always rap on 2 strands .Rope is never "tied" only threaded through anchors.. Wrapped over a branch/notch would work too. That way when I get to the bottom just pull 1 side & rope is free.

When I'm using my spurs, I use two strands to come down, but they are very skinny and won't work on the way up. I'm trying to set up a srt system for the areas where I can't use my spurs.

After seeing a couple people using a ropeman instead of a hand ascender, I started playing around. I ordered a couple more ropemen (since you can never have enough.....) and a couple of paragliding carabiners to make this micro SRT set. The best part is there is absolutely no rattle. Once at the top, I can transfer one of the ropeman to my tether. I'll have to bring a figure eight for rapelling, but that doesn't bother me. I really was never a big fan of the grigri anyways. I never really trusted it to catch and I hated the way it rattled.

Now this is a setup simple enough for me to get on board with... is that stirrups or an aider hanging from the top ropeman?

It's just a sewn nylon runner/sling loop from rei. Super cheap and light weight. I used to use shorter ones as bridges before I started using the ropeman for an adjustable bridge
