SRT Guys?

Anyone doing SRT with the kestrel yet? If so, are you just connecting to your bridge?

I have a Trango ATC style device that I carry for backup and left my grigri in the car, lol. Haven't used it, didn't use a sling with it and my auto block prusik wasn't holding, so I had to do a couple quick leg wraps, it worked great nice and smooth on the way down

Same here. I think mine is 15 years old. I b picked it up when I first started rock climbing. Bombproof. grigri is awesome.

Yes sir. I got rid of the bridge that came with it in favor of an adjustable one. Can shorten when climbing and rap. Adjust to what length I need once in the tree.

How and what are those gold rings you have on the loops? I made a second short bridge for my ascent and rap but don't love it. Your setup looks sweet!

So when you climb SRT and reach your destination what do you do with your climbing rope after you attach the tree strap?
Do you completely de-rig your climbing system or stay hooked in as a backup?

Do you just let your climbing rope dangle all the way to the ground? I am currently leaving it cinched at the top and coiling the rope up and hanging it on a hook.
Should I stay connected to it as a backup?

Coil up the remaining climb line and stay attached if you want, That way it doesn't dangle and your never disconnected from the main line. Either that or disconnect after you attached to your tree tether.

You can use one of those niteize ties to quickly secure the extra rope. Or just stuff it in a backpack.

I have pouches on my saddle and can just put it in there

I let my rope hang.....never been a problem. I hunt right off the rope. Stash my hand ascender, foot loop, and pulley in my pack.
No separate tree tether unless my tie in is too high.....I have a simple one with a bee-line prusic in my bag.

this is what I do as well. I have nitrize hanging off my saddle like Medusa. So many uses.

I was thinking about that. it really doesn't move if you in sight relative to the animal. if you are on a platform as a leaner, your movements are so much smaller than a sitter as well. I set up within 50-70 yards of bedded bucks last night (had 3 pop up) but the paracord was preset. It's my quietest climbing method behind spurs. Definitely the safest.
