I debated on writing this, changed my mind a few times, then said what the heck.
Safety has been discussed several times on this forum. I am not telling anyone what to do. But I feel the need to point a few things out. I am no expert but from what I know, the human body can be very resilient or very fragile. You hear stories of people that fall from heights and walk away with no or minor injuries. But there are about 70 people each year who slip in the tub and die.
I worked with a guy that had a life changing event. I will call him Bill. Bill was in great shape; he was a triathlete; he could run more miles than I could walk. Bill was in his late 30’s. On a holiday weekend about two years ago, Bill his wife and two girls went to his in-laws for a cookout and pool party. Bill dove into the pool, no Bill did not hit the bottom. He just somehow hit the water funny. His two girls had to pull him up from the bottom of the pool. Paralyzed from the neck down. No use of his arms. After two years of physical therapy, Bill still has no use of his arms. I can’t even imagine what that would be like. Won’t bore you with all the details but after a year, his wife divorced him and took the girls.
Even a short fall and hitting the tree with your head can result in a life changing event. Falling and cutting yourself on a step or stick.
My point is, why not be as safe as you can?
You cannot be too safe, kind of like having too much fun, there is no such thing.
Have a safe hunting season.
