2018 Deer Contest Discussion

@redsquirrel , I think a little buy-in would go a long way, you could give cash prizes to 1-3 or just 1st place and the rest goes to help run the site. Kind of like a little fundraiser. Might be too late this year but something to think about next year. You could even use some cash to buy prizes or maybe get a few donations from some of the awesome saddle hunting company's. Food for thought.

I have an idea for a separate fundraiser but we’re keeping the contest for fun.

I've already said that whichever team wins I would be willing to call each member of that team and give them 30 minutes of my personal time.
I think @huck72412 is using some mental warfare to try to get us to not shoot deer. It's not gonna work, I've suffered worse threats and still ended up going hunting:smirk:.

Red, if it's not being too nosey, I would be interested in what it costs annually to maintain this site. Not for any reason other than to assist with the site. I know they aren't free, and I know you invest a ton of time in monitoring this site. I have been a member of several sites and have yet to find one as resourceful for a DIY'er as this one. If you will, AT LEAST let us help you offset the actual cost of the site. I know there are several members who 'hang their virtual hat' here multiple times a day that would love to help fund the site this has come to be!

Thank you for the offer. I have something in the works that will do just that :). Hopefully I get it put together soon!

Bump for the contest discussion that includes everyone. That Huck dude popped in our team discussion and spoiled it like a rock to the leg on a bowhunt by some panty waisted metal detecting hippy freak.

Let's not silo ourselves into tribes. Did I mention team 5 is going to wipe the floor. Did y'all see that freaky @2Shea deer with 15 main beams?

I love how quiet it's gotten around here - that means the woods are calling!

I think having the contest is a fun way to push ourselves. Now if @redsquirrel would cut @huck72412 a little slack. Lol. Remember huck everyone hates a winner.
Yeah I love the contest. Its gonna push me to hunt more often this year no doubt. I got my neighbors watching me try crazy ways to climb trees, hanging from a diaper, DIY'ing stuff late at night, etc. What's surprising is I talk about saddle hunting to other hunters and most have never heard of it.

Guys i also posted my story in the Team 3 discussion if anyone would like a long read lol i will remember to post here next time

First let me say I feel like a little kid today.

Well I know some have already opened but most open this morning and would like to wish everyone good luck. We have all been waiting for this day for some time let’s take our time be safe and come home to our loved ones. Good luck everyone. It’s here!!!

That's right! Although, waking up to 45* in northern Missouri two weeks ago, and then being drenched in sweat before I got one stepp on the tree yesterday afternoon at home for a practice run, sure doesn't make me want to hunt early season. I only got bit by 50 mosquitos and 20 ants though, so that was a low water mark...

I can't imagine how many rattlers and moccasins I'll become friends with in the next couple weeks. Someone post pictures of leaves changing colors stat!
